Out of 19 motorcycles I've owned, the 2005 VTR1000 (also known as the Honda Superhawk 996) is the lightest, thinest, most powerful, best-handling, canyon carver I've ever ridden. I'm 6' 0", 185 lbs. For me, the forward-leaning riding position, with a Corbin seat is extremely comfortable. The stock front forks and a Olin rear shock work perfectly with all road conditions. It soaks up bumps like they are not there. The engine is used as part of the frame which makes the whole chassis very ridged so hard cornering is effortless, and fun. I've never ridden a bike that handles better than this Superhawk 996. The engine has so much torque that you can stay in fourth gear from 40 to 120 mph in the canyons with it red lining about 9,500 RPM. You can easily change the exhaust from low and slightly tilted up to high and exiting next to the license plate like the VTR race bikes. The unique radiator setup, one on each side of the bike, keep the engine temperature between 175 and 220 degrees, and keep the bike very thin and easily maneuverable. The gas tank is thin and small and only holds about 5 gallons so the refill interval is about 100 miles, not good for touring but just fine for short trips blasting through your favorite canyon.

1983 Kawasaki GPZ1100 Review The 1983 Kawasaki GPZ1100 is a legendary machine that marked a significant milestone in the evolution of superbikes. With its bold red color and sleek design, it was a head-turner right from the start. But the GPZ1100 was more than just a pretty face; it was a powerhouse on wheels. Performance and Engine: Under the hood, the GPZ1100 packed an air-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC 1089cc inline-four engine. This beast delivered impressive power, thanks to several top-end changes introduced in 1983. The combustion chamber was redesigned to a polyspheric shape, allowing for larger valves and a higher compression ratio of 9.5:1. The result? More power and better performance1. The engine’s straight-cut primary drive and five-speed transmission ensured smooth power delivery, making the GPZ1100 a joy to ride. The bike’s midrange power was particularly noteworthy, providing a smooth and responsive ride without the abrupt rush of top-end power seen in some competitors2. Handling and Suspension: Kawasaki equipped the GPZ1100 with advanced features for its time, including anti-dive forks and a single-rear-shock suspension. These race-proven components contributed to the bike’s stable and predictable handling, especially at high speeds. However, some riders found the handling a bit heavy at lower speeds, a trade-off for its high-speed stability. Design and Comfort: The GPZ1100’s design was both functional and stylish. The frame-mounted half fairing, sweeping lines, and red wheels with polished aluminum highlights gave it a distinctive look. The cockpit was designed for functionality, offering a comfortable riding position for long journeys. Legacy: The 1983 GPZ1100 was Kawasaki’s statement of intent in the superbike arena. It was a bike that combined power, style, and advanced technology, setting a benchmark for future models. While it faced stiff competition from Suzuki’s GS1100 and Honda’s CB1100F, the GPZ1100 held its own and remains a beloved classic among motorcycle enthusiasts. Whether you’re a fan of vintage bikes or just appreciate a well-engineered machine, the 1983 Kawasaki GPZ1100 is a testament to Kawasaki’s commitment to performance and innovation.

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/kawasaki/zx-10r/2004/ The Kawasaki ZX-10R is sold as the ultimate track bike – the 2004/05 ZX-10R was one of Kawasaki’s first machines after the firm gave itself a kick up the arse in 2002. The 10R’s one wild ride and an absolute weapon in experienced hands. It’s light, makes massive power and handles superbly on the track – a bit of a handful on the road though. 2004-2005 Kawasaki ZX-10R C used buyers' guide The original, hardcore ZX-10R took the world by storm. Light at a quoted 170kg dry with an arm-ripping 181bhp according to Kawasaki, it was always going to be lively and attract a certain type of customer. Nick Morgan team owner of MSS racing simply describes the original bike as, “bloody brilliant bike, 160bhp stock, 175bhp with a fettle and a great chassis”. Back in ‘04 it came with radial brakes on petal discs, fully adjustable suspension front and back and digital dash with lap timer. It was aimed at the racy, track day public and proved to be a big hit.

Great bike that can start you off and carry you for a few years with some room to grow. Makes smooth, even power, and gets good fuel economy (about 44 mpg on my commute). Not so good for much taller riders (I’m 76” and it would be a little uncomfortable after an hour on the saddle). Easy to service, very reliable, modern fuel injected bike. Forgiving but confident handling and good ride quality. Bike is nice and stable and instills confidence in the rider. Inputs are all well calibrated and the bike feels natural to interact with.

I liked the bigger fuel tank at 5.3 gallons versus 3-3,5 for some other bikes. Can go longer during filling up. I got 200-250 miles average per tank. Not much maintenance clean the carbs every 2 years along with regular oil changes. That's about it.

You are going to absolutely LOVE THIS BIKE no matter where you ride - by the ocean, under the canopy lined streets, the highway or around town! I used to own this same motorcycle in 1980 and liked it so much, I bought another one. Very well made, reliable, inexpensive for the shop to do the yearly maintenance. It is big enough for the highway and yet sill maneuverable in the parking lot. This is the perfect size. I used to put my g/f on the back and ride all over and she was comfortable too. I n 1985, I bought a Honda 650 Nighthawk and it was too little and too light for the highway. I will miss it but I do not ride anymore though I do start it up every week and listen to it purr. It has comfortable seats and only 9500 miles. The shop went over everything last year and did whatever it needed. Put on new tires, new battery, new plugs, etc. I wanted it to be in tip top shape. Maybe I put on 100 - 150 miles since then. You will love it too. It shines and I get compliments on it, just like you will and it will make you SMILE!
