This is my son's first bike. It's a great, safe starter motorcycle no doubt for beginners. My son loved it so much and commuted to his high school daily. Easy to maintain. fuel efficient and reliable brand. Never regretted buying this bike but it's time to upgrade thus need to say good bye to her. Show less

My Honda is really good looking, if you want to get back into riding, or if your small like me, the Honda Rebel is low seat, only weighs 418 lbs. handles really well. has enough power for interstate riding. it's really quick,comfortable in my opinion, no numb butt so far, no vibration in the handlebars. very easy to control cornering,fantastic lean angle.no it doesn't have a gear indicator, but easy to hear rpm's to shift. has A B S, brakes are really good. it's a really great bike with enough power without being over powered for new riders, of just learning to ride.i definately recommend the rebel 500. I bought this bike for my son to learn on. We had a 250 Ninja, but I wanted something more sedate. He got his license and moved on to the ninja. I thought of selling the nighthawk, but it was fun and I decided to add some foam grips and a 15 tooth front sprocket a couple years ago. It can cruise comfortably at 65, but can struggle on hills and high wind. I'm approaching retirement and wanted a bigger bike, but my wife said she won't ride with me, so I figured the nighthawk will get the job done if I'm soloing it. I added a center stand and a rear rack. The most I've done in a day is about 250 miles, but I know I can take it farther with no problem. I will replace the chain and both sprockets and change the fork oil to a heavier weight, and while the rear wheel is off, replace the rear brake shoes. It delivers up to 80 MPG in good conditions, and never gets below 65 MPG. No repairs needed yet. I would recommend it to anyone who wants cheap, reliable transportation and doesn't care about impressing the Jones. Show less

I bought this motorcycle to be my first, to learn on per-say. It starts every time, without fail. The seat is very comfortable, and the reach to the handle bars is not fatiguing in the least; so longer rides are quite enjoyable. It is not fast at all, and actually the acceleration between 45 mph. and 65 mph. is somewhat slow but steady. It can sustain 65 mph. going up and down hills, making it a great city bike, but I wouldn't want to try to maneuver around 18 wheelers in the interstate. It's lightness allows the wind to push it a bit much for my taste. It's a great learner bike - excellent quality. Show less

My son and I bought the 2006 Rebel used at a great price and are using it to get started riding. We both just passed our MSF safety course and got our licenses. It's a great bike to learn on - very easy to manuever and light. It has good power and gets up to highway speeds pretty quickly and very smoothly. I have ridden it on the Atlanta freeways with no problem and it reaches 70 mph. without too much trouble even though you do get blown around some in windy conditions. It does slow a bit under that when going up long hills, but that has not been a problem. I am taller and it is a bit small for me. I have to get off and stretch a bit after 30 to 45 minutes of riding, but it's such a great value, I don't mind that. I would definitely recommend it to beginning motorcyclists. Show less

I love my Rebel, I got it in 2009. I use my Rebel to ride to work when its not cold and rainy. I've never had any problems. As we would expect, it's not very powerful but on freeway you can ride it with ease and comfort. I go up to 70-72 mph. with not much efforts. I love the classic style and smoothness the Rebel has.
