Yamaha YZF-R6S reviews

I have a 2007 R1 with 4,500 miles on it. I have ridden the bike for a year and love the top end performance. The bike's handling is razor sharp and it devours high speed curves. I do wish the bike had more mid-range and bottom end torque for those low speed curves. The under seat exhausts will also cook your thighs. This is my sixth bike and have only ridden Honda up until I bought this bike. The bike is definitely better than my previous Honda liter bikes. I have recently ridden the 08 CBR 1000RR and think it is a better bike. Show less

I picked this bike up new in April 09. I am very happy I purchased the bike. There is a glitch at 5500 rpm in second gear, the dealer fixed this for me. It took about a week to get it fixed. Other than that, the seat gets pretty hot. Fixed that by getting rid of cat. Bike handles pretty awsome. Sexy looking bike that has insane acceleration. Show less

The 08 R6's have taken on Almighty status in my garage. I'm completely happy with the choice and really feel the track in them. They are not kind around town but get in a spirited situation and it's on!!! Not much out there does it all so well. Buy two, like I did. You won't be disappointed. Excellent job YAMAHA! Show less

I've raced motocross and hare scrambles for years and have owned 2 other street bikes, a 250 and a 500, but nothing compares to the speed and performance of the R6. I ride with an R1 and have no problem keeping up with it. Personally I think the R6 handles way better and has better mid-range. You'd be an idiot not to buy one. Show less

To start this is my first bike so if I am a bit biased forgive me. I have sincere love for this bike as its sharp lines keep the eyes wondering. I have had this bike for almost a year (16aug08). This bikes powerband starts at 6000k and pulls to the very end. The bike leans effortlessly, and changes direction just as well. My friends can account for this fact as I scare them with the cornering ability I get. Scraping the pegs in the twisties! I have had only one problem with this bike, that being the damn dealership set the idle speed too low and it kept dying on me. I had to figure this out on my own. Other than that the, bike's perfectly wonderful. I get about 50 mpg babying it and 40 mpg ripping that throttle back every chance I get. I have yet to buy any mods as I'm still honing my cornering skills. I'll add more power as I progress. Show less

I have almost had mine for a year and it's the best bike I've ever owned. You will love this machine. I can run down any other 600 on this bike. Super fast and wheelie machine. I'll own mine forever. Show less

It's my second sportbike and it's no doubt my fav so far. It's fast, fun, sounds great, looks great, feels great, etc. I ride with a lot of liter bikes and 750's and have zero problem keeping up. It's very flickable and strong though the corners. Could use a better headlight but hey, it's a sport bike. Be safe ride hard ride long. Show less

I just picked up a 07 r1 with 700 mi. on it and have put only 18 mi. on it in 2 days but love the bike. It rides like a dream. I was looking at getting a 09 but came across the 07 and figured save some money and get a great bike with 700 mi. I love how smooth it is and I wanted the yamaha blue but found it in red and the more I looked at it the more I liked it. I would recommend this bike to any experienced rider. Show less

I've had my R6S for about five weeks now and can't get enough of it. This is my first bike and it has treated me very well. I'm still getting used to how far I can actually lean over. This machine sticks wherever you put it. Many people thought I was crazy for getting an R6 my first time out, but it hasn't let me down. Show less

I had an R6 for 4 years and loved the handling of that bike. I grew up riding dirtbikes, four-wheelers, etc. I was a little nervous about going to a liter bike because of the increased weight and length. I always rode with 750s and 1000s with my 600 and I kept up just fine and could out corner just about anyone. My 06 R1 has done nothing but amaze me from day 1. The handling is every bit as good as my R6 was, and the feedback in the rear is much better, increasing my comfort level. The brakes work amazingly, and the power is fantastic. The only complaint I have is how Yamaha has 1st gear being so tall, and I miss taching out this bike like I used to do on my R6. Although I love the roll-on power that's on tap at anytime. If your thinking of getting a 1000, but you love taching out gears, look into a 750. If you just love riding and can't get enough power and want to be lazy about doing wheelies, shortening on-ramps, and not shifting as much, get a 1000. I put 9,000 miles on my R1 last year and only replaced oil, oil filters, and a set of tires. I had 17,000 miles on my R6 and only replaced the oil, oil filter, tires, and put a new chain and sprockets on it right before I sold it. You've gotta love Yamaha! Show less
