Yamaha YZ250 reviews

This bike is awesome. It has it all; great suspension, excellent handling, very broad powerband, and the most usable power. My previous bike before this was a TTR-125L, and what a difference. I will never go back to a four-stroke!! Show less

I bought a YZ250 in December of '03. It is an '04 and I love it. It is very fast for me. It is a reliable bike, the only thing is that they foul a lot of spark plugs when they are new. The only thing that I hate about the bike is the seat! The thing is hard as a rock! But other than that, the bike is good and the right way to go for your money. I haven't had any problems with it yet. This bike is a real blast. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I also got a works engine so it is mostly built for racing. The suspension holds well for the 65 foot backyard ramps that I jump. So buy this bike and go have a lot of fun for your money!! Show less

Bought a new YZ 250 in 2000. Still have it. New YZ450F in 03. And now my new 2005 TZ250. This one is way better than both of them in stock trim. Lighter is better. Easier to ride well. Very good power is spread throughout RPM range. Forks are as good stock as my '00 with Gold valves. This bike will smoke either one in the woods because of the weight difference. At the end of a long day in the saddle, it makes a big difference. The suspension clickers are more sensitive to adjustments on this bike and that's a good thing. Currently I'm at 15 clicks out on fork comp and 14 on rebound. Shock is at 14/14 and works fine, after some more break in I will tweak further. This bike turns well, very nuetral in the turns. The funnest difference between this bike and my other YZs is in the air. It whips around easily and is more sensitive to rider input while airborn. Lighter is better! I like this bike and I can't wait to fill up the tank for the second time. I'm selling my other YZs. I tried the 4 stroke and liked it for tracks and open riding but in the woods it was a chore to ride fast. I'm reconverting to two strokes and couldn't be happier with this choice. Stock Renthal bars are nice. The only thing I will add is a Scott's Steering Dampener. Show less

I just bought this bike a few days ago and love it. I have owned other Yamaha dirtbikes and none of them have performed as well as this one on the track or in the hills. It is light and the motor is strong. The forks are the best I have seen, that come stock anyway. The way the front brake is routed is great because it is not out in the open anymore. Yamaha did everything right from the factory this time. Show less

This bike does it all. With smooth power and great gearing, this thing can hang on the trails, at the track, or the hill climbs. It can always go faster than you are willing. It's built tough, too. If it doesn't start on the first kick, replace the spark plug and it will. I haven't had any major problems whatsoever. Show less

The bike is great. I went from a CR125 to this and absolutely love it. The only complaints I have are that the forks are a little soft and the radiator fins seem very weak. I have let numerous people ride it and one liked it so much he sold his CR for the YZ. I highly recommend this bike to all! Show less

This is my 5th YZ and my last was a 2000 250. Took a while to get used to, the seat is 1 inch lower then my 2K and being tall it was a struggle. The power was great and once I changed the rear sproket it felt like my 2K just more power. I had Suspension By Jake fine tune it for my weight and riding ability. He does great work for much less then the others charge. VForce reeds, Bill's Pipe and silencer and this thing rocks! Show less

Had this bike for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it. The power is unbelievable...I'm 6' 220lbs and I can barely hold on for dear life sometimes!! As I've read in a few other articles I have to agree, the suspension is a bit stiff, but a small price to pay for such a killer motor.. Show less

Just the other day I test drove the 2003 yz250 and it was unbelievable. The power,control,and the handling was the best of the 250 class I've ever seen. My buddy got an 1998 suzuki rm 250 and he couldn't believe the power of the yamaha. To narrow it down the 2003 yamaha yz250 is the best motocross bike on the go today...... Show less
