In 1967, Yamaha introduced the YR-1 as their first ever 350cc street model. The YR-1 Grand Prix was Yamaha's biggest bike to date . Ultra high performance 2 stroke with auto lube oil injection system that mixes the gas and oil automatically! 36 bhp at 7500 rpm! Awesome classic that has kickstart only, effortless and reliable starting every time. Cruises at 80 mph and top speed 100-110 with a quarter mile time 14.0. With a 14 second ET these defeated many a larger capacity bike, they are considered rare today. Although it vibrates a bit, its Fun to ride and has power to spare especially being a two stroke on a street bike, this thing gets up and goes! This 2002 Yamaha XVS1100 Vstar Classic with 25,341 miles would be a great project bike for the right rider. I bought my VStar 650 two years ago, used. It was January of 2021, Raleigh, N.C. I went into Motomax several times before. This time, Josh knew I had been looking for about six months. I asked "what's new?"......he pointed and said "just go it in.....sit on it John". I sat and it was a PERFECT fit. I'm only 5'5" (use to be 5'9"). The Black Beauty was like new. I looked at the odometer........1,200 miles. YES.....only 1200 miles on an 8 y.o. bike. Didn't even start it up. I bet I got on and off it a dozen times. Asked the price, and told him what CASH offer I'd give. Within 10 minutes.....it was mine. I actually paid him to ride it home 4 miles.......it's been 40 years since I rode. I later took the MSA class. Now......the Bike. It rides and handles like a dream. I've put highway bars, windshield and sissy bar on it since. OH.....the windshield is from National Windshield......it's Carbon Fiber......extremely strong. Companys been making windshields since 1939 ?! Our development has 11 cul de sacs and I practiced, practiced and practiced. It paid off, cause this bike is smooth, responsive, quick enough to get you outta the hole, yet, cruise on the highway at 65. That's the max I'll do on it. It's just me, nothing wrong with the bike. I've serviced it every spring......and can't wait to ride. The clutch grabs at the top, so if your worried about that, it's build that way. I noticed I have to mash the back brake and softly squeeze the front brake. Every moring, it fires right up.....no problem. Now.....GAS......I burn Non-Ethanol gas only. You can find it.....Exxon/Mobil has it, as Sunoco......just have to look for it. Valero has it too. In the winter, just pull the choke and she fires right up. BE CAREFUL not to let the choke on rich too long.....the pipes will start to dis-color. The trans is very forgiving. Lot's of times I can shift without the clutch.....I learned that years ago in the 70's. This bike is so smooth, often I check the 5th gear.......it's that smooth. I guy I do business with gave me a set of Hard Leather saddlebags ......it's really sharp now. It leans into the curves well, handles great. I've never had a doubt with this machine. So this is my 4th bike. Way back in the late 60's to early 70's I started off with a HD CH900, then a Honda 650, then a Kawasaki 400.....nothing wrong with Harley.......I just have less mechanical issues with Rice Burners. VStar 650.......it's a mid cruiser......but don't overlook it. Remember.......it's the RIDE. Cruising back roads at 45 - 55.....this is a PERFECT BIKE.......... Show less

Found a 2005 v star 1100 and pick it up for $1200. The couple didn't ride any more and were happy to see it go. Ended up selling it for $2900 just a couple weeks later. It was a great bike, but I didn't really think it was for me. Just a year later, since I had $$, I started looking for another bike. Found my 07 v star 1300 sitting on a street corner that had been there for awhile ( about 8 months). Once I was able to find the owner and test ride it ,found out it had a dead cylinder. Anyway, after agreeing with the owner that I would purchase the bike if I could take it to a shop and get it running, he allowed me to take it and 7 days and $107 later, the bike was mine. It is a perfect fit for me. I even tried to sell it but it's mine. So I ended up buying a trailer for it to be able to do some traveling with it. Show less

I bought my vstar almost a year ago. It's my first bike. I love it. It's easy to handle, very comfortable to ride. The look is very sharp. All my friends says it looks like a harley. I love the way it sits low. Everything about it is great. I have no complaints about my bike whatsoever. I love the way it rides, very smooth. It's just a sharp looking bike. I tell ya, for a beginner It's awesome. I've driven it everywhere. Really cheap on gas. Show less

I do love this bike. True the factory starter motor is not great. The overall build quality is good. The ride and handling are also good. I have had many street bikes from many manufactures and this one is my favorite thus far. Good all around cruise...kudos to the Yamaha project team. Ryan Florida Show less

These are excellent bikes, I have had no issues with mine at all, starts every time and is extremely comfortable going down the road. I would definitely recommend one to anybody looking for a bike. All around good quality and style. Only recommendation I have is to have the ecu flashed to get rid of fuel cut on deceleration. Show less

This was the perfect upgrade as my second bike after getting my license. The bike is big but not overwhelming. Owned it now for almost two years and found it very satisfying. Bike handles well. Have had no major issues other than regular maintenance. Gas mileage is quite good and tank is huge so you can go a long time between fuelling. Did add a windshield for less turbulence on the highway. Does wind out a bit RPM wise on the highway but not unmanageable. Power is good most of the times. Sometimes looking for a non existent 6 th gear. Comfortable on longer trips. Lots of Chrome so if you want it to look good you’ll have to maintain it. I.e. requires lots of polishing and detailing for optimum aesthetics. Overall good value and reliability for the money. Show less
