2009 Yamaha Road Star Silverado S

5.0
I now have 1500 miles on the Road Star and the bike is much better than I thought. I made a 500 mile trip on the bike and I can say without a doubt it rides much smoother than my 1500 Vulcan. The standard seat is OK but I prefer the feel of Mustang seats so that is probably my next purchase. As...

The standard seat is OK but I prefer the feel of Mustang seats so that is probably my next purchase. As far as performance what is really noticeable is the top gear acceleration from 60 mph on up - it is just effortless and great for passing. However, the smooth ride and comfort is the reason you should buy his bike. The only negative is a little vibration through the floor boards since the engine is not counter-balanced but it is a minor complaint to an otherwise great bike.

2009 Yamaha Raider S

I have 4 bikes in my garage that I can ride, BMW R1200RT, FZ1, SV1000S, and the Raider. The other bikes where made to handle well and they do. The Raider S with the racked out front, does not give the appearance of a bike that turns well. But after a couple of hours on the bike, dragging the foot...

The Raider S with the racked out front, does not give the appearance of a bike that turns well. But after a couple of hours on the bike, dragging the foot pegs is no problem, and it is fun to do. The bike has one bad ass motor also. Put the V/H 2 into 1 pipe and WOW, it sounds better then any Harley that I have heard and does awesome burn outs.

I traded in my 2000 Vulcan Nomad with 35,0000 miles, (got tired of the clutch problems with the Nomad) in July 2008 for a Roadstar Silverado S. The Roadstar is a great bike. Easy and fun to ride. Easy to manuever through the twisties and turnies. Excellent giddy-up and go and having a...

Easy to manuever through the twisties and turnies. Excellent giddy-up and go and having a well-balanced, well designed bike like the Roadstar actually has improved my riding skills and confidence. Low maintance costs, and when I stay off the freeways I'm getting 45 to 50+ miles to the gallon.

2009 Yamaha Raider S

I bought this in Feb 09 as a demo with 600 mi. I have the Tommy Blue S. It's cool that the color has been discontinued as not many others on the road. Also, not many in Gainesville, so I get a lot of comments from other riders. The bike is very easy to ride and is well balanced. I think it's kind...

Also, not many in Gainesville, so I get a lot of comments from other riders. The bike is very easy to ride and is well balanced. I think it's kind of easy to corner, but you do have to give it a little more throttle into the turn. Plenty of power. A sixth gear would be nice. Only add on so far is a sissy bar for my wife. I tried a windshield, but it seemed to add to the wind noise. Comfortable saddle too. Would get another one in a second.

The Strat is a very strong bike. At speed it handles very well. Like all heavy bikes at slow speed it is a bit cumbersome. The Strat is a very strong bike. At speed it handles very well. Like all heavy bikes at slow speed it is a bit cumbersome. For almost 5,000 miles my '07 (bought new in '08) has never failed to start on the first push of the starter button. No breakdown or issue of any kind. No backfires no nothing. The bike throws off too much heat to be called comfortable in the summer in FL. But that may be an issue regardless of your ride. The seat is the reson I gave this bike a four instead of a five for comfort. The padding/foam is not top notch. My old Honda VTX was much more comfortable. The quality issues are small, the windshiled bracket and fasteners are showing some rust (this on a garage kept bike that has only seen rain twice in a year). that's why I gave four stars for quality not five. All in all it is a very quick, strong bike that serves the Two-up larger riders well. The bike is worth the money they ask for it (compared to what else is out there). I however might have gone another route if I had the chance to test it for a few hundred miles before buying. My next bike if there is one might be a Sport Touring Bike. I looked closely at the BMW 1200RT That can be set up to be closer to what I want, the issue is it would cost over $20,000 & that to be fair to the Strat, is far more than I paid it. If you like cruisers. If you demand power. You will like this bike...

I bought the Raider March of 09 and from the moment I saw it - I was in love with the looks. I describe the looks as intimidating. It has such a great balance and sits so nice underneath the rider that it is almost indescrible. You just have to experience the feel. On the road - ir rides just a little rough because of the low profile tire on the back but the wind goes right over the top of you without a windshield. Most cruisers need a windshield, not the Raider though. My first thought as I pulled out of the parking lot onto the road - Whoa baby! - absolutely amazing. Cap this feel with the outstanding relationship that the people at the dealership develop with their customers - you have a winning combination, something to be proud of, and something to ride and brag about. You don't have to brag too much though - the Raider and crew at the store rake in the compliments.

Can't wait to put a slip on muffler, K&N air filer and computer mods to make it more noticeable in traffic and faster!

Too hard for long rides. I use a sheep skin gel pad. Plenty of power and turns heads as well. Gas mileage is poor and could use a 6th gear. Tank too small as well for the big beast. A head gasket was replaced at 7,000 miles and Yamaha would not cover under warranty because it had just expired 4 months earlier.
