Victory Cross Country Tour reviews

Potential Victory Owners, I bought my Victory in July of 2011. I could not be more happy. My friends and I rode our motorcycles from South Carolina to New Orleans to Texas and back. There was four Harley Riders and one Victory, three Street Glides, one Road King and one Cross Country. My Victory motorcycle lived up to its name. In all fairness, the Harley's looked and sounded real good. But, I got better gas mileage and had more room on my bike for souvenirs in my side bags. The only upgrade on my bike is the Victory passenger backrest and a cupholder accessory. The power is incredible for this size bike. I passed cars and Harleys with ease traveling on I20. Downshifting to pass a vehicle is not necessary. There is plenty of power in six gear. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a sweet spot in 4th gear when cruising around town. You feel like you can do anything in fourth gear. (Buy a Victory you will see). Sitting on my Victory seat for 14 hours minus gas stops, no problem. This is the most comfortable stock seat I've sat on in a motorcycle. The long floor boards made it easy to adjust your legs for even more comfortability. My Street Gliding friends all purchased Highway Pegs or they would likely be cramped. My Victory was vibration free at 85 mph. Yes, the engine purred like a Honda engine at speed. (In my opinion, Honda makes the best engines). The Cross Country was extremely stable at high speeds. Traveling through stretches of rainy highway, the stock tires were satisfactory. On the highway and traveling only a couple of hundred miles between refueling, you will do some hard braking from time to time. No problem on the Cross Country. Every aspect of riding is confidence inspiring. The stereo/radio system sounds very clear at 70+ miles per hour. My black Cross Country stuck out easily amongst my group of grey and orange, and red Harley-Davidson owners. I got equal or more attention on my bike than the Harleys. Until I purchase Satellite radio, it's no fun searching for radio stations from state to state. All the Harley owners, with the exception of the Road Kinger, had a standard CD player on their bike. For $16,400 out the door price for a new bike, I can not complain. Instead, I am insane in love with my Victory. Show less

I went to Auburn, WA (7-21-2012) for the Victory Challenge and rode several bikes. I never had ridden a Victory prior. I found the bike (cross country) very comfortable and while maintaining good manners and handling the bike was a blast. I had intended on looking at the Hammer S....but they had just received the Cross Country in black - 2013 and the new decal - wow. Next step, the wife was very outspoken about not wanting to ride and yet at 10:00 that night she said she had a great time after riding 125 miles with me on the back of my new Cross Country. Now a couple of observations. You will notice how the transmission is definitely "speaking" when going in to gear but the shift is smooth and yes, very powerful. My bike is brand new - two miles at delivery - and so knowing the power yet is a bit unclear but it appears to have more than I want to handle without losing my glasses...wow! In summary, drive one, who knows you might end up wearing a Victory hat and typing a testament on the internet. I am thrilled at the purchase of my new black Cross Country. The Victory Cross Roads LE build plate #155 that I bought two months ago is by far the best bike I've ever ridden. At the age of 27, there's no doubt in my mind that it will be the last bike I'll have to buy until I reach retirement age. After owning a Goldwing and a couple other cruisers along the way, this bike just beats all in my book and the riding experiences I've had. The ride is as smooth as a ribbon and handles like a dream with tons of power on demand at any speed. I also like the fact that the 106cu engine is very smooth and quiet, kind of reminds me of the grandmother' Singer sewing machine - haha. The build and overall quality is very nice with a lot of thought put into it. All it took was a test ride and a good look over for me to realize this. I was seriously considering a new Harley because no matter how you look at them they are nice bikes, but after looking at the Harleys and riding a couple, I found that for some reason they didn't fit me well. I also could tell that by riding the Harleys that money would have to be thrown at them for things like a new seat, extra foot pegs or floor boards and new exhaust to open them up because of emission rules our goverment has put on them. I was turned off by the fact of buying a $15,000 to $20,000 bike just to have to throw more money at it to make it the way I wanted. So I went to a Victory dealership and sat on my Cross Roads LE and what a difference. I was thrilled with the fact that I could buy a new bike that was set up from the factory the way it should be. The stock seat is very comfortable and will never need to be replaced for a better one, the floor boards are huge with way more than enough foot room and even with the emissions on the bike in stock form, I see no need whatsoever to have to put an exhaust system or a programmer on this bike because is runs good and right from factory (it's not all choked down). The riding position on this Victory is very relaxed, so much so that I'm not even going to bother with adding a rider's backrest, just a passenger's backrest for the wife. The other nice thing about the bike is its awesome for 2 up riding. There's no real difference in handling or power at all with the second person on board. The first couple of times I took the wife out on it, I could feel her getting all tensed up and bracing for impact on bumps and things like railroad crossings but it didnt take long for her to realize that you could barely feel them. So it's a good ride for her too and she's relaxed now - hahaha. So far I've been nothing but impressed and very satisfied. I feel like I've got my money's worth. Besides a Honda Goldwing and an Electro Glide Harley and the fact that I haven't ridden them all, I don't know of any other bike stock from factory that I can ride for four hours straight (or until you run out of gas) that when you get off your backside feels like you just got on. 2 big thumbs up on the 2012 Victory Cross Roads LE. (The accesories for these bikes are very, very high quality, too. I asked for a sissy bar and they handed me what looked like the back off a lazyboy chair). Show less

This is my third Victory motorcycle, 2012 Ness Cross-Country, and as with my other two, this bike is fantastic. The amount of space, the stereo and overall ride are what I expected. Show less

I have been cross country four times on three different bikes. Some days I'm doing from 400 to 600 miles a day. When you do that many miles your backside gets numb - back gets stiff, hands hurt and you're just overall tired. I bought my 2008 Vision in August of 2010 in Montana after the Gold Wing I was riding broke down. Last year I went from coast to coast riding 7,853 miles by the time I was done. For the first time I did not feel tired, sore or beat up from the ride. The bike was so comfortable I didn't want to get off. They say Vision riders don't want to ride, just local. We want to really ride the long ride. I live in New York and I need to only ride to three more states to do all 50 states by bike - Alaska, Hawaii and Washington. I can't wait!!! Show less

The bike was incredible from the moment I saw it. I tried to convince myself to buy the base model - but the Ness spoke to me. I came home with it and my wife was not mad, just told me my dinner would be cold, we were going riding. 1300 miles in 2 weeks and I enjoy it more each day. Show less

I bought my 2011 Cross Roads in late March, 2012 and have put over 5,000 miles on it in the last three months. I ride it to and from work through the Provo Canyon here in Utah and enjoy the ride every day. I have had no problems with the bike. It runs great and handles awesome. I would recommend this bike to anyone. Just wanted to add that the other day I was sitting behind a guy on a Harley at a stop light and after watching him get vibrated to death, I sure was glad I was on a Victory. Show less

I bought my 2012 XCT in April and I couldn't be happier with my choice. This was an upgrade from a 2003 Honda VT1100 Sabre (my first bike). I started like most I am guessing, with a lot of thinking and researching. Obviously I looked closely at the owner reviews. All were deservedly very shining. Of course I checked out other makers such as Harley Davidson but I was disappointed when I was told it would cost a day's rental fee (over $200) to take a Harley out for a test ride at my local H-D dealer. But, I was able to take a Victory XCT out free of charge. Upon riding the XCT for the first time I was immediately taken by the light feel of the bike considering it's nearly 900 lb. dry weight. Handling was effortless and turns happened almost on thought alone. The bike transitions from hard left to hard right turns with very little effort on the rider's part. Power is more than ample and I have found that my friends who ride that "other" American-made bike in it's stock form are hard pressed to keep up if I won't let them. Comfort and features are plentiful. Wind protection and cold weather ride-ability is fantastic. On warmer days, just open the lower vents and fairing wings to have the wind in your face almost like there was nothing on the bike to stop it. On 90+ degree days, I did notice the heat of course but it was not enough to shut down the bike nor stop me from wanting to ride. I am very much looking forward to planning my first long trip on this bike. I am certain every mile ahead will be as enjoyable as the previous ones. Show less

I purchased my XCountry in March of 2012, as an upgrade to my original bike (2004 Honda Shadow Sabre) and can't say enough how pleased I am with the handling, performance and comfortability of the bike. A friend of mine described it as a big little bike and that about fits it perfectly. It has a ton of power and speed and handles like a bike that weighs hundreds of pounds less. At just over 800 lbs., you would never know it. The boards and seat are the most comfortable I've come across. If you want a good looking, well built, excellent set of wheels, go Victory, hands down. I have owned Indian and Harley. This bike is a superior bike. Stock, it handles very well. There is very little needed to upgrade. The dealership is a fantastic dealership. I'm very happy and highly recommend the machine Show less
