We looked at many different scoots and were a little put off initially by the higher price that Vespa charges. In the end you get what you pay for. 1) Smooth, quiet and reliable. It just works perfectly. Milage of 63 MPG or 3.6 l per 100 km being driven aggresively. (Too much fun not to go fast!!) 2) Outstanding power for only 150cc 4 stroke. Over 100 km'hr with a CVT. 3) Convenience and ergonomics. Huge lockable glove box. Topcase swallows my large Snell rated full face helmet. Underseat storage is very large. My wife puts her tall stainless coffee mug in the glove box when she commutes to work. The switches, mirrors, everything is just well thought out and of solid construction. The other scooters just felt cheaply finished when put up against the new Vespa's. There is even an adjustable preload on the factory shock with four settings depending on rider weight or 2 up. 4) Appearance/curb appeal. Hey...it's a Vespa. They are a gorgeous original. Nobody else makes a better looking scooter. 5) Not having to answer NO each time someone says "hey is that a Vespa" when you ride a scooter. Afer we dropped the money in the winter on this bike we wondered if we made a mistake or should have gone cheaper? Once we had a few days on the bike any sense of buyers remorse had vanished. The bike is so nice to ride, so simple to maneuver and park, and just draws compliments from all kinds of folks. I cannot recommend this bike highly enough for city use, but if you honestly need more time on the highway than in town it is the wrong bike. Get a GT/GTS/X9/BV 250/500 or look at the other maxi's or a m/c. As an in town commuter it has no rivals.

I bought the Vespa LX150 during the summer of 2005 and now have nearly 3000 miles on it. Unlike most scooter riders, I put most of my miles on in rural areas. It is a delightful machine for leisurely jaunts through the countryside and for all the various chores and errands I used to run in my Ford Ranger truck. The Vespa LX150 is quick and responsive and will move my 190 pounds along at nearly 65 MPH on flat roads with no wind but it is most at home at around 55. It has great acceleration for a little engine and I surprise many drivers at traffic lights. I've had no trouble with it at all, save wearing the rear tire out at around 2500 miles. Those small wheels turn a lot more than the bigger ones I guess. The Vespa is comfortable and extremely nimble on the road. I had some concerns that it would be unstable at higher speeds or in wind. Neither have been the case. Unlike most riders, I have continued to ride through the winter and in some light snow. Properly prepared you can ride all year long. With the riding clothes I have, I am good down to around 6 degrees Fahrenheit. And the scooter does not complain at all about the cold. It is good on gas with my mileage consistently around 68 MPG. All things considered, it is just a great ride---I am always smiling while I am riding.

I have been a Vespa fanatic for about 10 years, but I have owned other motorbikes to commute back and forth from work on the highway, and the vespas were more like a hobby. I continue to own a vintage Vespa to tinker with, but I am having a blast with my new Granturismo that has replaced my sport bike. I can cruise right along with the big boys on the interstate. It has got plenty of acceleration, and I cruise along at 75 mph without straining the engine, I think the top speed must be near 85 mph. I'm getting about 70/75 miles per gallon, I wish the tank were larger, it's only 2.5 gallons, but it has a nice gas gauge, plus a light on the dash to warn when fuel is low. I go about 125/150 miles between fill-ups. I do enjoy the large compartment under the seat to haul things and it is the most comfortable scooter I have ever had (I've had 6 other scooters). I imagine that anyone shorter than I am would not feel as comfortable at stop lights. It is also the safest scooter: The brakes are awesome and the light is really bright. It is all-around everything that I would have dreamed it to be, but it comes at a rather high price.

My comute is only 3 or 4 miles one way to work, but many mornings, or afternoons I will take a much longer route just to enjoy the ride. This is a very easy bike to ride. I like not having to change gears, or worry about clutching, or foot brakes. The GT200 has plenty of power to stay up with traffic and will run 55-65 mph very easily. I really have to watch my speed in town because it is so smooth, that you will be over the limits without knowing it. I have also ridden this bike for a few trips of 100 miles. Very good on the back roads, and handles them quite easy. Great scoot overall.

After the 650 mile run, I changed engine oil and Hub oil took it out and opened it up. I saw 76mph on the speedo and then checked it with my GPS and found it to be the correct. I also have a ET4 and it's a great scooter as well. They both get about 60-65MPG. The ET4 will do 60+mph with me on it with no wind. Both scooters have a high Fun Factor and have never let me down in any way.

The ride is pretty good, great for a scoot, and you can corner it pretty low with the stock tires. I use it on a gnarly dirt road daily and it handles it very well. Brakes are fantastic, you need to practice as you need some rear brake compared to most motor cycles unless you ride a heavy bike or a cruiser type. It has a very comfy seat, even for two. The footpegs for the passenger are pretty, but a design nightmare as the rider's feet are in the driver's foot space when stopped. The rider must cooperate by keeping toes way in, which is kind of uncomfortable though.

For a Scooter around town this is the one has plenty of power, great handling, and is very good comfort. I'm 6'4" and I have lots of room and get no cramps in my legs even when it's cold. I have averaged about 60 to 66 mpg so far and it will do 60+mpg with my weight. The quality is first rate. The only thing I have had to do so far is set the idle down twice as the motor is breaking in, also had to put a little Fix a Flat in the rear tire to seal the rim tight. It costs a little more that other 150cc scooters but after owning one for a week it is a bargain. 5+ rating.
