The bike corners like my dads monster yet rides as comfortable as a sport touring. The seat is lower but ok for the taller fellas. Super comfy. CONS: not enough torque however for a first training bike, thats about it. I have since upgraded the intake, exhaust, carbs, mirrors and filters along with removing the emmisions kit and now I got a deap throaty sound with more torque and a topspeed of about 128mph. not bad. It jumps up there well fast enough but lacks the power to lift the heavy front end. I would trust this bike with my life.....

I just bought this bike 3 days ago. I have been jonesing to get back into bikes for quite some time. I am most recently coming off a crotch rocket phase (a few Kawi ZX's). I could not bow to the cruiser age, or feel the urge to climb aboard another plastic covered rocket. I was torn between (soon to be released) Ducati classics and the Triumph. The prestige and styling (true retro) sold me immediately. I felt an immediate kinship as soon as I climbed into the saddle. This is what motor biking is about...emotion...pure emotion. Although it does take some getting used to (riding position), it really is very compliant. I have 363 miles in 2 days - it can't be too bad! Power is a twist away. It is moderate as compared to today's super bikes and even the hooligan bikes (speed triple), but very capable. If you are looking or classic ageless styling in a competent and capable performer, the Thruxton just may be the answer.

I have owned many bikes, but for Classic looks, sporty feel and handling in the real world, you can't beat the Triumph Thruxton. No matter where I go or who I ride with all eyes fall on the Thruxton when we stop for fuel. It looks that good - especially in Caspian Blue, a deep rich color that mimics one of the colors used to paint original versions of the Thruxton first produced in the mid-1960's. I have fitted my bike with the Triumph color-matched flyscreen and a centerstand. The screen takes a bit of wind off of my torso at speed. The stand makes the little bit of chain maintenance that I do very easy. It does not interfere with cornering clearance for most street riders. I have heard many men complain about the clip-on style bars. I don't know what they are talking about, I can use them just fine for hours. As a 52-year old woman who has had carpal tunnel from GSXR's in the past my answer to these men is "shut up and ride, it won't kill you!". Do a few push-ups if you are that weak! I love the looks, feel and handling of this modern classic machine, I will own this Triumph for many seasons.

The only thing is that you should remove the air injection kit right away it makes the bike run hot. The headers were so hot they were red at night. I removed the air injection right after the maiden voyage even the dealer recommends it be removed.

I do wish it had just a little more power. I haven't added anything just yet, so I'm sure that will help. It is just a fun bike. Nothing beats pulling into a Harley dealership and having all the hog riders inside come out to look at your $8000 bike. Very satisfying.

I had Laverdas, Bennelli, Ducatis, rice burners..Then I bought a Yamaha Seca 900 new in '84 and I kept it until spring of '05. I had no plans to make a change until I saw a new Thruxton at a dealer. One look and I was hooked and knew I had to have that motorcycle! It reminded me of my Laverda 750 SFII with it's single seat and rear cowl. I read everything I could get my hands on and made the plunge. I'm SO glad I did, it's been better than I imagined! I deffinately recommend this bike to all of you riders out there who are looking for a good bike to set your heart on.

Handles so nimbly, with easy maneuvering around town and instant lay over for your corner carving. Power is perfect sans rush. I miss the rush sometimes but really it gives all you need for life under a ton; twist the throttle and it goes. Braking is adequate. don't know why I find it comfortable but there are aftermarket bars are available. Triumph built a minimalist cafe racer, so we will see if they put a little juice into it once Ducati starts rolling out their retro 1000cc with Ohlin cafe racers. For now, though, I am really happy with it. It's my first twin and I will never switch from that type of motor.

I still love this bike. I've made some changes that have enhanced the bike. Replaced the stock silencers with the Dunstall Style mufflers from JCWhitney. These are great because the baffles are removeable and therefore tuneable. Now this bike sounds as muscular as it looks. Second, I am using a UNI foam filter and the bike breathes a lot easier. The bars are a little low even for me and I'll probably replace those with a higher rise or angle in the near future. This is a very reliable, fun and predictable riding bike. What a great vibe, too.

However, I get going a few miles and my hands get sore and my right forearm starts burning. The seat isn't so hot either. That said, I think that with some higher bars I'll like the bike a lot more. The twin is nice down low and the handling is consistently nice if you're smooth. The performance is what I wanted and expected, the build quality is good, and the appearance is even better in person than the pictures show.
