I've been riding since the mid 70's and have most recently owned a Sporster, an Electraglide and a custom chopper. The Triumph is the keeper. I will never sell this bike, except maybe to get another one. It's quick, it handles, and it looks great. I just love riding this bike. If you have to use the kid's college fund to buy one, don't test drive it. You've been warned.

I've owned a 2006 for about 6 weeks and cannot ride it enough. I agree w/love my speedy as the bike is a real headturner. Triumph has outdone themselves with a great performing bike that is NOT a Harley in the Speedmaster. It is also my first bike and it is very forgiving as well as aggressive as you want to play. I am averaging about 43 mpg. and absolutely love the bike. It is something different that is quite noticeable NOT in any way Japanese nor is it a wanna be cruiser. This bike stands on its own and can hang w/ any other cruiser out there. I hope I can report the same at 3500 miles.

Overall handling is very well and she seems to have plenty of power, the only thing that I don't like is after about 20-30 miles my right hand gets numb. I don't know if it's the bars or just to much tooling...but overall it's a bad bike and she will burn a Harley everytime.

The first review I wrote was at the end of my initial long ride of 500 kilometres. Since then I have done a couple of short hops of 100 Kilometres and a ride of 760 Kilometres in 2 days to get the bike its first service. My thoughts on the comfort and handling of this bike has not changed. It is comfrotable for long runs and if needed you can do a lot of kilometres in a day. The bike handles well in corners at speed and at the lower end of the speed spectrum. I noticed the first reviewer in this section stated that the bike is dangerous in the front end with it "diving" during operation. I have encountered this but only on sharp braking at low speeds. I think this is to be expected as the brakes at 120 kph are good slowing the bike quickly and smoothly. If the brakes are good at stopping the bike/rider combination of 300 kilograms at this speed, it makes sense that a sharp application of the brakes at low speed would see the bike dive. At higher speed the inertia of the bike is enough to prevent the brakes locking the tire so as forward momentum is maintained it allows the bike to slow quickly with the suspension slightly compressed. Go to low speed with less momentum and grab the brakes and the bike wants to stop suddenly due to the force of the brakes and lack of forward inertia. In this case the forward momentum is absorbed by the only part that can give and this is the front shocks. If you apply front and rear brakes sparingly, the bike will handle as well at low speeds as at the higher end. As for other accessories I will probably look at boards with a heel toe shifter as I think it would relax riding a bit more. There's my 10 cents worth!

Triumph says no need to re-jet, that's not what I've found. Definitely needs it. Over all, comfortable, a real head turner, light and maneuverable for a cruiser and you don't see many of them on the road. This is my first bike and though I found the weight a bit intimidating at first, after a few days I was OK with it. I've ridden a few other bikes now, a sportster and a ninja 650. I love my speedy. Way nicer than the sportster and definitely more of an eye catcher without the need for the flashy paint.

After riding a Yamaha Virago and a Honda Shadow (both good bikes) for a few years, I was ready for a change of pace. Originally thought I wanted a Sportster. But once I took a ride on the Speedmaster, I was hooked. A buddy years ago had an old Bonneville and I remembered how much he'd liked that bike, so Triumph was a brand I was somewhat familiar with. The Speedmaster has a unique style, which I like. And it handles very well. The 865 cc motor isn't overpowering by any means, but it's respectable and will cruise all day at 70 mph+ without any complaints. The stock seat isn't good for riding with a passenger, though. I get 45 - 50 mpg in mixed city/highway driving.

Triumph has been notorious for quality, comfort, and reliability, not to mention performance. Once again they hit the ball out of the park with this one. the bike sounds great, turns heads every where I go, and is a blast to ride. It draws interest from nearly every age group. The veterans have a look at the name and hear the sound and relive glory days, and the younger guys look at the engineering and styling and like the fact that it is sporty yet different from the typical. If you want to be a face in the crowd, this is not the bike for you, however, if you want to stand out, impress, and be impressed you are looking at the right bike.

I turned 60 in February and having graduated all four kids from college as of May 22nd, I decided it was time for a bike, and it has been a few years. I started looking in October last year and ended up at Southeast Sales in March planning on a Japanese bike as I used to sell Honda, BSA and Norton in college. I kept bumping into the Triumphs and of course have always been in love with them but figured for maintainence free, problem free biking, I better get a Honda or Yamaha or. Finally, sitting on a left over '04 Speedmaster with 0000.7 miles on it I said to Dan, this couldn't weigh over 400 lbs! It weighed 507 lbs. My feet were flat on the ground and knees bent. Yellow and black, big discount for an '04 and $500 Triumph parts- SOLD! 4/13/06. Now, 6 weeks and 1800 miles later, I am still amazed at how incredible the Speedmaster is and how fast I was able to get back in the saddle, and I have stopped looking for things to fix or tighten. It has no faults except the driver and I know bikes but even more, I know manufacturing and I am impressed everytime I look at it. I just oil the chain using a floor jack and 2 x 4 to get the rear wheel off the ground- and it has at least 12 oz. of Mcguires wax on every part:-) I think I have lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks, feel great and have never had so many people ask me about my motorcycle. "a Triumph huh? Still make 'em?" Finally; 2 weeks after I got it, I saw Arlo Guthrie in concert and made a request for "the motorcycle song"- he did it!
