It's a great bike with loads of power and handles extremely well on city and highway roads. I average 35 mpg. city and 40 mpg. highway. My only Gripe is the tires don't last long. I run Metzler tires. There does not seen to be many tires out there that will accomodate this model. 9,000... read more

I run Metzler tires. There does not seen to be many tires out there that will accomodate this model. 9,000 miles is about all you can get out of these tires. They are good tires and handle well, but expensive. Overall, I love the bike.

I originally bought the Triumph Rocket III Touring Edition becuase I loved the look of the bike and the fact it stands out! I like HD but honestly there are so many on the road they just all blend in anymore. This bike handles like a mid-sized bike even though it is far from it. The torque allows for easy mountain riding as you don't have to shift as often to accellerate. The comfort level is fantastic with the wide seat and backrest and I love all the extras that were already on this bike when I bought it. I ride with guys on HD and Indian's and I get way more compliments on my bike than they do, not to mention I can smoke them going up a mountain!

This is my second Rocket. I replaced my 2007 Classic because I wanted the foot positioning of the Roadster. The bike is much more nimble with feet on the pegs rather than forward on the boards. With the fabulous tourque, the bike is extremely easy to ride in traffic, leaving a traffic light or a stop is effortless. On the open road the bike handles very well in spite of that huge rear tire. We do a a great deal of two-up riding and the Rocket is great there as well. I like the fact that this model has gone from three "silencers" to two. It is just a better look, in my opinion, and there is more power as if one needed any more than the earlier Rocket III. It handles even better than my Valkyrie Interstate and I feel that is a great machine.

It handles well, but is limited in cornering clearance. The rear shocks need improvement. The handlebars are very uncomfortable for me - way too wide. The exhaust note even with stock mufflers is wonderful. My wife says it is a more comfortable ride than my BMW 1150RT. With all the pros and cons, the bottom line is when you twist the trottle, nothing on earth has such a feeling of raw power and acceleration.

I've been riding for 25 years and I tend to keep my bikes for 10 or more years. My present ride is a 1998 FLHTC with 186k miles for comparison. It's my first Triumph and not the last. This bike is distinctive in every way. There's something about knowing that you ride a bike with the largest mass produced motorcycle engine (no disrespect to Boss Hoss but that's an automobile engine in a bike frame). I'm impressed at how light it feels at 807 pounds. They did a great job at hiding its bulk. Its mass is easily handled and can accelerate rapidly from as low as 1500 rpm. It's a very smooth ride and comfortable for about 500-mile days. My friends and co-workers can't get enough of this bike and talking about it. It's not easy nowadays to build such a unique motorcycle/experience in a cookie-cutter world. Ups: It has a comfortable upright riding position and room to stretch out like most cruisers with highway pegs. The unique styling and engine configuration can't compare to any other cruiser with more power than you can imagine. The manufacturer marquee is respected by all brands unlike my Harley. It's a great transmission for an 800 pound cruiser. It has a low total cost of ownership (20k miles between valve checks). Downs: The unique handling (I mean this in a bad way) wants to drop into slow turns and wide bars that make you feel like a sail, but other than that, the handling is rock solid especially at highway speeds. Getting parts from Triumph is painfully slow. I'm lucky to get over 35 mpg when being gentle with the throttle.

Warning, Warning! If you ride this beast, you will find all others pale in comparison. I first looked at the bike the first year Triumph brought out the Rocket III, but I had to wait until they brought out a touring model. I have owned mine for just over 2-1/2 months and have over 4300 miles on it. Long hours in the saddle are not an issue and it handles like it's on a rail. Beware if you have a problem with the need for speed. This bike may cost you in tickets!
