Triumph uses the same exact engine & tranny, not to mention quality workmanship. All you've got to do is use Mobil 1 Synthetic(20w40), keep the chain adjusted, gas her and shes' ready. Many add ons are available. Treat her right and she'll give you all the reliable miles you desire. Priced new between $6,800 and $ 7,800. Triumph is here to stay boys and girls!

I'm a new rider. Took the MSF course in March. Went out and bought a 02 Ninja 500. Put 2000 miles on it and sold it. Good bike but a little small for me. Picked up the 00 Legend new on the showroom floor for a great price. I recommend looking for those new but couldn't sell bikes sitting out there. Anyways, to the bike. I've since but 1100 miles on it so I figure I can write about it. Its fantastic. Lots of low end and good smooth highway speed. I'm 6'2", 185 lbs and I'm perfectly comfortable on the bike. Rides great two up too. My girlfriend is 6' as well and we feel great on the bike together. The elevated rear seat prevents your passenger from sliding forward at stops thus smashing the gonads. Anyhow, back to the power. Its a gorilla but only if you really twist the throttle. Its got a smooth roll on if you are normal. Handles well for a 500 lb bike. Only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it really should have that 6th gear for highway cruising. I'm about at 5500 RPM for 76-8 mph in 5th, the final gear. Also, it should come with a centerstand, but that's not the bike's fault, its Triumph cutting cost. One last thing, people love the look of it. I've had everyone from old guys at country road gas stations think its as beautiful the Triumph they had when they were my age, to people at stoplights honking at me to tell me they love the look of it. You gotta dig the retro style. If you want a proven brand, European quality and performance for a non-BMW price, a bike that even Harley riders will respect, and finally something different then the stock Japanese cruisers out there, then this bike is a great find. Obviously, its 02 and they don't make it anymore, but you can pick up a Thunderbird if you want basically the same bike (same in-line three) but with more chrome and a little bit different exhaust.

This bike gets just 4 stars for one reason and one reason only; my 2000 Triumph Thunderbird Sport does everything my 1999 LegendTT does, and it does it better. that's not a trivial accomplishment. The LegendTT is a marvelous motorcycle. Good brakes, decent suspension (once you ge the rear preload setup correctly), handling that would be outright twitchy were it not for the fact that as long as you keep your arms steady the LegendTT stays steady. This engine pulls like a freight train from very low revs (15mph to 120mph in 5th gear is no problem) and delivers 45-50mpg in the process. All that and it's a Triumph too. What more could you ask for? I'd highly recommend this bike to anybody who wants something better in real rideability than all the plastic rockets out there. This is a motorcycle for people who enjoy riding.

I had been out of motorcycling for about 12 years. When the opportunity came around to re-enter the hobby I looked intensely to find something inexpensive, dependable, and classy. This bike filled all 3 criteria. I drove it for almost 3 years without a single problem. Thats right, not a single problem. It started and performed flawlessly every time I took it out. You can't ask for more than that. Plenty of power right where you want it. Enough comfort to handle 100 to 200 mile journeys. I recommend this bike to anyone. Whether you are an expert or entry level rider, you'll appreciate this bike for what it is. A great bike built by a great company. Nuff said.

I bought a 1979 Bonneville in 1994, totally rebuilt it and rode it for 9000 great miles over 3 years. Great bike but lousy brakes and headlight made it pretty exciting at times. Bought a new Harley Superglide in 1997. Ran like a locomotive but handled like one too. In 1999 I sold the HD and bought a new Legend TT (for half the $$$) after many test rides and research. This bike has been trouble free and is faster than the Harley and as much fun as the Bonneville(which I still have). I think the brakes, lights, handling and power are just right for me (a 50 year old kid). The bike is fast, but not too fast, the brakes are strong but well modulated and not grabby. My bike is stock except for the pipes - T-Bird off road pipes-and sounds and looks great-after looking hard at the green decided on the metallic black, can't go wrong with black on a Triumph especially with those exceptionally nice wheels!

Bike has good handling and nice low range torque, but feels like it needs another gear at hiway speeds. Only problem so far has been leaking rear shock, so it's going to the dealer soon. Probably will be a warrenty repair. Engine is very smooth and makes a nice growl even with stock slip on mufflers.

After lusting after a Triumph for 26 years, I finally have one! When I was a teenager I used to hang out at the local Triumph dealer lusting after a Bonnie. Unfortunately my parents didn't see things the same way. So back in July I visited the local Triumph dealer in search of a Bonnie. None in stock, but then I spotted a green Legend. After much soul searching (and some pleading with the wife), I decided to get the Legend. Man, I love it!! It looks great, rides great, and it was the right choice for me. And here's another thing I like, everywhere I look I see Harleys (yes I thought about getting one), but this is one of the few Triumphs I've seen around here and I like that sense of being different. Triumph is it! In fact I'm trying to figure out how I can sneak a Bonnie into the garage to make a complete set!! I wonder if the wife will notice it?! HAhahaha.

This is my very first bike. I looked at some Hondas, Harleys and Ducatis but they didn't have the looks and/or the performance. To my opinion this is not a freeway (with long straits) machine. This motorcycle simply needs a lot of turns. It is great fun to accelerate while turning bends. The use of gas is very friendly: without using the safety mode of the tank, I can make a radius of at least 220 km. that's 1L:22km! The brakes are excellent, the comfort for the rider is o.k. The comfort for the passenger is a little less on bumpy roads. I have a green Legend TT and every day people start talking to me about the color, the brand, or their past. (To all youngsters: Triumph was BIG in the sixties and seventies) I would like to recommend this bike to everyone who wants a honest iron bike but don't want to have a HD.

I have a Green 1999 Legend with 5000 miles in the first year. Only problems have been a loose battery terminal, 30 seconds to fix, and the two little nuts that are soldered inside the Front light came apart. The engine gets sweeter with the miles as does the gear changing. Ride comfort is fine, braking is OK and handling has yet to give me any negative surprises. Touring returns 55 to 56 miles per gallon with speeds of 100 to 120 kph and little bursts to 140 to 160 kph. (Sorry officer I think this section of the highway is a private and closed road.) I have two complaints. If you don't like attention, don't buy this bike. Attention draw card it is. Every second stop gets someone telling me its great bike, love the colour, had one meself mate about 30 years ago. Oh sure they did, 900 cc Twin Cams and 4 valve, water cooled, reliable was it mate? Petrol stops always takes double the time with talking to the well wishers as the droll all over that deep beautiful paint on the fuel tank. Many parts have been chromed which add to the appearance of the legend. A Scottoiler looks after the chain. A Ventura rear carrier and pack system fits the bike a treat. Oh yes, my second and only real complaint, the seat. I am sure its designed for short legged people and short trips. I striped down the seat and found the cause of the problem to be two convex parts of the plastic molding that hits me right in the backside. A few mods and a 40 mm layer of 85kg density Bonded Polyurethane foam with the original foam on top fixs the problem. I added a strip to the original cover. Six hours in the saddle touring is no longer a pain. A Givi A700 Airstar screen allows for 140 kph touring speeds and no handling problems with this add on. So as a born again biker after a layoff of 20 plus years, 69 HP is enough to keep ahead of the tin cages, allow you to use all the power available, keep your life and licence, so long as you are careful. It was to be my last bike for a lifetime, now well the bug has hit and looking at several options. One thing for sure, the Legend can just cruise and look good, Tour well and loves the bends. A good standard all rounder.
