Needless to say this was my first bike ever. Yes my first bike was a 250. It's so fast I can't believe it. I was at the dunes on spring break and I beat a KFX 700, the fastest quad on the market through the dunes and I wasn't really even trying. Plus I had a half way gone paddle. I was at the dunes on spring break and I beat a KFX 700, the fastest quad on the market through the dunes and I wasn't really even trying. Plus I had a half way gone paddle. The guy had all kind of advantages on me and I still won. WOW! If you ever consider this bike I'd say get a newer one if you can afford it. Not because this one sucks, it dosen't... it's awesome, but because this year is an odd year for Suzuki with this bike. It stands on its own on some parts and parts for this bike can be a pain especially aftermarket graphics. But all in all this bike rocks! It's my baby.

This bike hits hard, does what you want it to, and most importantly it always stays in front of the pack. As fas as reliability, I still have the 5 year old factory spark plug in it. With my new purchase of a '02 Suzuki RM 125cc, I have been very pleased. I am used to riding my other 1994 KX 125 and have found my switch in name brands to be a good one. In the trails of WV, my RM is very reliable to the abuse I put it through. I like its massive mid range but I wish it had a little more low-end on the steep hills. Its suspension is good but I'm still making changes on it so that the front doesn't slide out when I land from a jump. I recently street raced a 2005 Suzuki Z 400cc quad and stayed side by side, flat out. My 125 & his 400 both being bone stock. I found 6th gear to be very responsive and in the power band the whole way. The things I liked most about the RM were the:
      1. Clutch: easy pull, nice amount of hold/grip.
      2. Thinness of the bike.
      3. Suspension.
      4. Engine power.
The things I could do without were the:
      1. Weak rear brake (compared to my '94 KX 125).
      2. Weak (but not horrible) low-end power.
      3. The power band kicks in hardly at all in 1st gear, and clears at about 12,000 RPMs in 2nd. (All the other gears it's good; and I understand RM's have a greater mid to top end boost in the band, but this is just my opinion.)

Got my RMZ450 yesterday. Just ran that 2nd tank of break in fuel today. Finally opened it up after waiting out the break in period. My goodness, this bike rocks! 4 gears works perfectly. The power in the low RPM range is something else. It barks from the very first kick to the high end of 4th gear. Just a roll of the throttle on very steep hill climbs in 2nd or 3rd gear instantly grabs power. No need to clutch this bike to rev the engine. Truly, a great purchase and ride. Suzuki will sell lots of these. So far, my only complaint is the hard seat foam, many bikes have that these days. I am a non pro, 36 year old Dad that rides with his kids. won't be eating any dust on this thing. I love this bike. The dealer at the shop told me a story how this bike out of the crate turned out 4 second quicker lap times than an after marked CRF450 with the same rider. They sell both, Honda and Suzuki. I worked the same price on both bikes, so no advantage to sell the Suzuki over the Honda. It will win lots of races, just wait till Carmichael gets on one in the outdoor motocross series when he's done dominating the supercross on a 2 stroke RM.

After riding the RM for a while, it isn't too hard to the get the hang of, even though it is a 2 stroke. It has a wide powerband for trails, but I put a 10oz flywheel weight on mine to lessen the power a little bit. The suspension is also amazing, I'm not sure how it compares to bigger bikes though, but compared to the TTR, it's awesome. It is very fast, and light. I'd recommend it to just about anyone.

I was tired of being beaten on my supped up 1998 rm 125 so I saved up and bought the new rm 250z. The break in on this bike was a pain but now that that is over with, I can't find anything that this bike can't do. I've entered hill climbs and performed perfectly, entered hare scrambles and romped around the woods like my backyard! I've also raced motocross and found myself side-by-side with a yz250f every lap but in the end it performed in the clutch. So what I'm saying is this is a bad bike!!!
