It looks like a fat boy with 1/5th of the price. It's a great bike for the money but if you're doing some serious traveling (400-500 miles a day), you might want a bigger motor because the 800 cc doesn't cut it for 75-80 mph on Nebraska freeway, it gets really riled up. It just needs about 1200 cc if you're going to travel with it but it's great for around town.

I've had my 2000 Intruder 800 for 18 months and 2600 miles. I bought it used with 4,000 miles on it. I like the bike a lot. I had not ridden in almost 30 years before this bike. I recommend it highly as a first bike or for someone returning to riding. I get 44 mpg. It has plenty of power, but it reaches high revs quickly in all gears. It could use another gear on the highway. Takes a while to warm up and runs roughly at cold start. Once warmed up it runs great. Nice exhaust sound. The seat is low, and the bike is relatively light, so it is easy to maneuver in the parking lot. The ride is a little stiff with noticeable, but not aggravating, vibration. Overall, the ride is pretty comfortable. My wife hates the passenger seat. It's not a bike for 2 up riding. I'm torn right now between putting a windshield on the Intruder or selling it and buying a bigger cruiser. The big cruisers are a little more cushioned and comfortable. However, the Intruder runs as fast as or faster than most cruisers up to the 1100. In summary, you can't go wrong buying an Intruder. It gets approving looks and compliments everywhere I go. It's dependable, nice looking, rides nice, sounds great, sips gas and is easy to handle.

The 1600 Marauder is a great cruiser bike but it is too quiet from the factory, also the factory seat is terrible if you want to haul a passenger. Other than those issues I love this bike, it has great power and handles and stops great, even with the Cobra Fuel Processor and Pipes I still average 40 mpg. The Vance and Hines Pipes are expensive but well worth the money they look great on the bike and sound awesome. The Mustang seat is very nice also your passenger will thank you for that addition. I have never heard any knocking or other engine noises from my bike, but my pipes may hide it also I always run premium gas in it. I would recommend this bike to anyone that's looking for a good cruiser.

I hadn't owned a motorcycle for 10 years (wife, kids, work). After spending 6 months at sea, I decided it was time. I started looking the day after I got home. I had looked at new Marauders on the internet and pretty well knew that's what I wanted. If I had read about any of the road tests and comparisons on the internet, I think I would have stayed away. But, the very first bike I saw was a 2001 Marauder, 2 years old with 700 miles! I managed to get it for $4900. After 10,000 miles, I'm still happy. Other than routine maintenance, I haven't had to spend a penny - it seems to be bullet proof. I wish the ride was a little more comfortable - the low handlebars get to my back after a couple hundred miles. I hated the seat at first- either I broke it in or I got used to it. I wish the foot pegs were a little farther out. I've always gotten compliments. With all the chrome and the mag wheels, it's a nice looking bike. I didn't like the stock exhaust. The bike looks mean, but it sounded like a sewing machine. After a stage 1 kit and aftermarket pipes, it had a whole new personality. I also changed the front sprocket from the stock 15 tooth to a 16 tooth. It made the engine much less busy on the interstate, and still has plenty of power. It handles great and is always dependable. I'm sure the replacement (Boulevard M50) is even better with the shaft drive and fuel injection, although in my opinion it doesn't look as cool as the Marauder. I'm stationed overseas right now, and I plan to get a bigger bike after I get home, but I couldn't have made a better choice.

The bike was slightly used and had eight hundred miles on it, so on the second day the break in period was over and it was time to get on it, 'cause I got it to get on it! ...get it? Yeah I hear some engine knocks sometimes but dude its a V-Twin, go get back on a four banger if a little noise bugs you 'cause its time to rock and roll with a low-end torqued, V-Twin powered, Bad Ass Flaired Fendered, Pulled Back Barred Marauding freak of a bike. It looks better than the Meanstreak and this is where the deal of your motorcycle buying lifetime is at. There are a lot of leftover 2004s out there and just remember this is a Kawa Meanstreak with an improvement on appearence (Rear Fender) so don't let the Suzuki discontinuation dissuade you. Get one before the deals are Gone!

My wife and I returned to riding after several years in limbo. We spent a month reading reviews and testing bikes. We sure did our homework. We wanted a bike where we both felt comfortable, and the bike had to be dependable. Everything pointed to the Volusia. We made the leap after all our homework and one test ride. The performance and power is second to none for an 800. And she is a looker! We have had many people that own Harley's give us a thumbs up. Where we get 43 miles per gallon they are only getting 23. We feel our Volusia will out last any Harley on the road today! We are in our 50's and loving every minute we spend on the bike. Thanks Suzuki

It handles well and has plenty of power, as well as decent gas milage for a 1600 cc motorcycle. Even without a windshield, at 90 mph on the highway, I don't feel like I'm going to get blown off the road. that's saying a lot for a 5'3" female. Also, finally, Suzuki/Kawasaki have come out with a stock seat that doesn't leave me miserable after 4 or 5 hours of riding. My only complaint is that the pipes are way too quiet. Nobody can hear this bike, so it's a good thing that it handles well because I'm beginning to feel like a car magnet. The upside is that the police don't hear me either. To anyone considering a purchase, you won't be disappointed.
