I searched around for the "perfect" bike. I didn't want to pay out the wazzu for insurance so a super sport bike was out. Plus, I didn't want to lay down everytime I rode the bike. After looking and searching, I narrowed my search down to the ZRX, the Suzuki Bandit 1200s, and the Yamaha FZ1. The Bandit was a decent ride but was air-cooled and wasn't punchy in the mid-range. The Yamaha FZ1 was WAAAAAYYYYY over priced for a stripped down R1 (you might as well buy an R1). The ZRX was awesome! Power, Power, Power!! The looks were impressive. The weight and balance were just right. There was no BUZZ at interstate speeds and the stock seat was comfortable. I had to buy this bike. I will ride this for a long time. I am very satisfied and you will be too.

I love it and I'll never sell it. Thanks to the engineers for remembering us old guys that don't want to ride a pocket rocket.

I bought my green Y2K ZRX in April of 2000, and I am still loving it. It has plenty of pavement grabbin' grunt, and can cruise very comfortably. Although I wouldn't want to take a cross-country trip on it. This machine was NOT built with touring in mind. An aftermarket seat and windscreen are definitely in order before taking off for some long distance destination. I am 45 years old (turn 46 in January), and my last ride was a '74 Honda 750, purchased in 1978. Every time I mount my trusty green steed I am re-reminded of how far motorcycles have advanced since those days. I compare it to going from a '70 VW Beetle to a ZR1 Corvette. One of the guys I work with has a '98 Ducati 750 Monster, which I believe cost him at or near $10K. For the money, $6500 out the door, I have twice the bike.

This machine is a great all around bike. Comfortable riding position, power, simple to maintain, excellent basic machine to modify. I haven't encountered some of the problems that have been reported but I did experience problem with radiator that I didn't like. Replaced @ 10,000 miles developed leak on upper right hand side, really bummed me out since it was three months after warranty. Great commuter bike, longest ride was 500 miles, could have gone another 100 or so. Real good purchase price. I've polished and painted wheels, ceramic-coated header to compliment Kerker slip-on added chin spoiler, also Zero Gravity windshield in GREEN, polished grabrails. Future mods will be steel braided brake lines, carb kit, maybe a full pipe, after that I may go to drop in cams. Dynoed after Kerker and got 101rwh=+5 over stock. I may have head ported and polished also then I'll be finished.

At 1200 miles it fouled a plug. I was told to replace it, and did. 300 miles later another foul. Took it in they said fuel tank was full of "stuff". I rode away happy. 40 miles later, on the highway it stooped running, I almost got ran over trying to get out of traffic. This happened twice more with visits to the same dealer. I'm sure they are great bikes, as a friend of mine has one with no trouble, but I was disappointed. A LOT of it has to do with the DEALER I'm sure
