I went looking for a KTM bike but the price was too high. Before leaving the dealer showed me a KLX in excellent shape for less than half of the KTM. I immediately closed the deal. My daughter and I took it to Croom the following day and it rides great, the suspension is plush and that helps with my back. It has plenty of power to have fun in the trails. I've had it for a few months and it has beem flawless. It came with a full FMF pipe, Renthal bars and brand new tires. It is the best used bike I've ever bought. I will keep it until it disintegrates in my garage.

Ok, I got this bike for my thirteenth birthday, I am now 17, 4 years and it is still kicking. I put this thing through hell and back. I have had some trouble with the carb clogging up, but you'll have that, I just ran some carb cleaner through it, cleans right up. And I have run into countless trees with it, no major damage. I have had to do no major work to it, just change the oil and all. I even jump it all the time, and it handles that well, because it is not a jumping bike. I live out in the country, so I have all kinds of terrain out here, it takes to them all quite nicely too.

Great bike for trails and desert! I bought mine used in Dec of '04 after the original owner had laid it down and hurt himself and decided it was too much bike for him. Since getting it I have made numerous trips out to Ocotillo Wells here in San Diego County and I have pushed this bike to its limits on the hard stuff, the sand and the hills. The only down check about the bike I have is that the KLX 400R is a cold blooded beast that needs to warm up for about 5 or 6 minutes before it runs smoothly at low RPM's.

well, I'm not sure if my opinion means anything to you because I've only had this bike for 2 days. Durring that time I went in water, mud, a homemade track and gravel pits. All these place I drove to. Well for starters it tops out at around 50mph. This isn't to bad but I'm sure it could have been made better. The mud that I went through was about a foot deep or so and it did not bad but has not the greatest traction. After this I had gone to my little track that I have. Keeping in mind that it's not a jumping bike, it wasn't too bad. The suspention was very soft so it bottomed out over most jumps and whoops. Overall it performed pretty well. I would recommend it to those steady trail riders.

THIS IS MY FIRST BIKE. IT HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH POWER FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS I RIDE WITH, WHO HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, SAY IT'S GOT LOTS OF POWER. THE ELECTRIC START FIRES UP EASILY EVERY TIME, BUT IT SHOULD SINCE IT'S BRAND NEW. THE SUSPENSION IS VERY PLUSH AND GIVES A REALLY NICE RIDE. THE STEERING SEEMS A LITTLE SLOW HOWEVER, AND THE BIKE TENDS TO PUSH AT HIGH SPEED THROUGH SOFT TERRAIN. IT'S A LITTLE ON THE HEAVY SIDE AND I'M NOT A SMALL PERSON, SO MAKE SURE YOU CAN LIFT THE THING WHEN YOU DUMP IT. (262 LB DRY WEIGHT) MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS MY BIKE TENDS TO STALL EASILY. IT'S NOT BECAUSE I'M A NEWBIE, SINCE MY RIDING PARTNERS MENTIONED EARLIER ALSO HAD TROUBLE WITH STALLING UNTIL THE BIKE WAS WELL WARMED UP. HOPEFULLY, IT'S BECAUSE IT'S NEW AND THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY AS THE BIKE IS FULLY BROKEN IN. I ALSO MANAGED TO GET A REAL GOOD DEAL ON THE PRICE BECAUSE IT WAS A LEFT OVER, AND MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN AS HAPPY PAYING THE FULL MSRP. BUT IT'S A GREAT FIRST BIKE FOR ME AND I'M REAL HAPPY WITH IT SO FAR.
