I came to the VTX from a '94 Magna 750. I was looking to move up the food-chain (talk about going from pirahna to great white, but...) and wanted a bike that would last for a while (both size and performance). The dealer I got the Magna from had 3 VTX 1800's, all '02, but only one was already modified a tad and had the lowest milage. Black Retro Spoke with Cobra drag pipes, Power Commander, and Kryakyn ISO Grips. So guess which one I picked? First time saddling up, I found it heavy (used to the Magna), but not overpowering. Cracked her over... nearly made myself deaf thanks to Cobra. Found it surprisingly stable at low speeds for her size (I'd ridden Fat Boys before so was used to larger bikes), but straighten out and lay on the throttle... I thought I got whiplash. I was in third before I knew what happened. Twice now, I've been at a stop light and had some guy in a sports car revving next to me. I guess they like seeing vapor trails. It's been about 2 months and I haven't stopped smiling. Even when I dragged a board in a tight turn, I never felt more secure and sure of a bike. I like Harley's; I like the history of the name, I like the styling. But I love my VTX and wouldn't trade it in for any Harley.

We walked in to buy a helmet and walked out with a helmet and a new Candy Black Cherry VTX. Traded in a 2002 750 Shadow Ace we had just over a year from the same dealership. My husband had been eyeing the 1800 ever since it came out and he was shocked when I said "go for it." Wow, it was like buying a cadillac. The seats were more comfortable and I have been riding two up with him as a passenger nearly every weekend since we bought it in Feburary. Much more enjoyable since it is a bigger bike that can handle the both of us like I'm not even there in the passenger's seat. We had to add on passenger peg extenders, the stock pegs put my knees way up in his ribs and my legs were cramping on the over-100 mile trips. Now we easily put on 400 miles on a weekend and no more leg cramping. Since this bike will probably be ridden till it dies, we are accessorising it alot and there is still more he wants on it. I keep pointing out things to add on it too. After we got the leathers on we put it in a bike show and won first place in the cruiser class!!! Everywhere we go this bike turns heads and we get asked alot...thats a Honda???

I did my homework before I bought this bike. Read the magazine reviews and everything I could find on the net from riders who bought one. I was somewhat apprehensive about buying such a big bike, but I only notice the weight when I move it around in my garage--and think I have a system down for that. I am new to this whole game and only had small bikes when I was a kid. However, I got such a good price on a new 2003 R I had to buy it. Rode it 75 miles home. The power is awesome (needed if you do much highway driving) and I found I didn't really need to shift into 5th gear until I was going at least 60. Pretty much vibration free (clear mirrors at 60 MPH) The bike was the recent pick between the new Kawasaki Vulcan 2000 and the new Yahmaha 1700 in an article I just read judged by 4 riders. Glad I went big--I'll never have to say I wish I would have. If you go big, you will never go back! It is an awesome machine.

I rode along I95 at average speeds of 80 mph sipping soda from my Roadrunner drinking buoy. that's right, riding intermittently with one hand on the VTX with total confidence is not a problem. This bike is vibration free under 100 mph. My only gripe is the weight far as just riding around town. The Suzuki 1500 intruder is more fun around town.

This bike has power! Very smooth ride and lots of power. Stock seats are ok but after about 60 mile they start to hurt. Pipes have a good clean tone but I prefer the Vance and Hines (next upgrade). Throttle is very touchy but it is fuel injected and my first fuel injected bike, just needs getting use to. Power Commander smoothed out my performance curve. Responds very well with over 6 inches of travel. You never notice the weight of the bike until your stopped. Riding 85 MPH with 2 people and the bike doe not even breath hard. Head light is plastic chrome, looks good but weak on Hondas part. Leg position is not bad but freeway bars are on my list of things to get. This bike is so powerful and vibration free that a tachometer is highly recommended. Being a big guy I'll be getting beach bars and maybe a drivers backrest as my back was broke once and still give me problems on long rides. Not wild about the fenders and taillight, check out the new VTX1800N very slick!

I've bought four bikes this year, and this one outshines them all by far.1982 CB900F, 2003 750A.C.E, 2003 750 Nighthawk, and a 2002 1100 Magna.

I get a comment from someone at practically every light. One girl (a car passenger) got out and on the back of the bike! We rode for about 1 mile and I let her back in with her friend after a great kiss! Never asked her name but she said after she kissed me, "I really love your bike!" I have had bikes for 25 years and this is by far the finest machine I have ever seen.
