Honda really gave us a Great Ride in the new RC51. Unfortunatly,I can't ride mine due to a screwup on the part of Honda. It seems that oil filters will not be available until the end of May or early June. No filters, no oil change,no break in, NO RIDING!!! Our riding season here in Vermont is...

Honda really gave us a Great Ride in the new RC51. Unfortunatly,I can't ride mine due to a screwup on the part of Honda. It seems that oil filters will not be available until the end of May or early June. No filters, no oil change,no break in, NO RIDING!!! Our riding season here in Vermont is short enough without losing a month to a foul up like this. I'm too disgusted to even be angry. We will see what Honda will do to mend fences with RC51 riders. I'm thinking a couple of free oil & filter changes, at the least.

Picked up my new RC51 on 5/6. Beautiful look, sweet sound. Not like my Ducati 900SS. Not as deep a sound, but VERY soulful. On the ride home, I got caught in the rain. She felt safe & solid as a rock. I can't wait to break her in & see what she can really do. I called my dealer in...

She felt safe & solid as a rock. I can't wait to break her in & see what she can really do. I called my dealer in December to put a deposit on the bike. He charged me list plus an extended warranty for $470. I'm happy with the deal; especially after hearing so many dealer gouging stories. What goes around, comes around.

While said dealer wanted more than list and more than my offer, I'm on a list @ a firm price with a different dealership. I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET MINE! The others can have the lighter, higher rev'n, higher peak hp, inline liter bikes. I'm so stoked about Honda quality and reliability in a twin...

The others can have the lighter, higher rev'n, higher peak hp, inline liter bikes. I'm so stoked about Honda quality and reliability in a twin going up against the 996S and Apprilia RSV Mille R, BOTH OF WHICH COST (LI$T) FOR A FAIR BIT MORE! Five Stars to Honda for the Technology and the price...MINUS FIVE TO THE PRICE GOUGING DEALERSHIPS THAT ARE HELLBENT ON HOSING WOULD BE ENTHUSIASTS. TEN STARS TO THE DEALERS THAT ARE PLAYING FAIR!

When I first started the "Bear" I thought that it was going to rock me off. The V twin has an enormous amount of power. Going from my driveway to the street was an exhilarating experience as it effortlessly glides along the pavement. The bike begs to be opened up. So that's what I did. Only problem is keeping the front end from coming off the ground. In the corners it literally rips up the road and going up hills one hardly ever has to down shift. The highway is really where you get to feel the "Bear" rip up the pavement. It will accelerate to 110mph without even winding it up to 5 grand. However if one inclines to exceed that barrier, then rip the throttle open up to 7 grand and before you know if you are at 150mph. This bike is truly the "Bear" of all street bikes. P.S. hang on to your nuggies. By Johnny L.

I put my deposit on a RC51 in October of 1999. I was told at that time that I was four on the list with only three bikes coming in. I checked last week and was told I am now six on the list and two people in front of me have dropped out. Oh and by the way, we are selling this bike for whatever we...

So much for $9999.00. I hope the rest of you have more luck from your local dealers.

Excellent all-around street bike. I've had my hawk for 8 months and put 6500 miles on it. I use it as my daily commuter as well as for sport riding, and the occasional 400 mile day trip. The bike has done all this with no problems. The motor has awesome midrange, which means you can easily do wheelies (I was once wheelie challenged, but not now). It handles good in the corners (very stable and forgiving), although harsh steering inputs will upset the chassis slightly. It's also very easy to ride quickly due to the motor's torque, as you don't have to worry too much what gear you're in.
Complaints; it's not very comfortable after about 3 hrs or so. If you're going to ride two up, get a different bike, or a different seat (after 45 minutes with a passenger, I'm praying for death). Also, the fuel mileage is just plain terrible. I usually get about 28-30 miles/gallon.
Overall, I am very happy with the bike. Even with the shortcomings, it's a hell of a lot of fun to ride, and makes an excellent do it all (except touring) bike. Of all the bikes I've owned, this is the one that I think I'll hang on to for a while.

The bike is a rush for rides under 2 hours. It feels like a big 4 stroke dirt bike. I agree with a previous comment that the Japanese don't usually refine the bikes, once released. The suspension is crap! Harsh riding, without the control that usually comes with it. This coupled with bars that,...

The bike is a rush for rides under 2 hours. It feels like a big 4 stroke dirt bike. I agree with a previous comment that the Japanese don't usually refine the bikes, once released. The suspension is crap! Harsh riding, without the control that usually comes with it. This coupled with bars that, although they are at the right height, they are the wrong angle, beat you senseless after 2 hour on our lousy R.I. roads. The engine is great at real world speeds (0 to 120mph)with a ton of torque.(Wheelies anyone???) The mileage and range are poor (35mpg/120 miles before jetting, 32mpg/105 miles afterwards)I would have gladly paid $750 more for decent suspension and a range of at least 160 miles. (Maybe a clock also...) I'd like HONDA to refine it for the next generation, keeping the streetability.

My recommendation--take a stock Superhawk and put on a Two Brothers exhaust system (my choice) or Erion pipe and DEFINITELY rejet the bike with a dynajet kit. Watch 25 pounds melt away and 12 hp come on board--trust me, its a different machine then, brother. With these mods, it revs right on up to...

Watch 25 pounds melt away and 12 hp come on board--trust me, its a different machine then, brother. With these mods, it revs right on up to redline without going flat after 6500, and still retains the best low and midrange on the street, along with great handling in the corners. Add a pair of Heli bars for good measure, to take any strain off your wrists, and take the next 4 hours to ride as fast as you can stand it..what a blast!!

Yes, the fuel issue with the VTR isn't exactly the best. But, if you own one like I do, you don't mind stopping in at gas stations and watch the heads turn as you rumble in. And if you have after-market pipes like I do, they'll hear you before they see you. It's like a big dirt bike for the...

Instant power response when you want it. I love it!!!!!
