I have 20 years of riding all makes of bikes. This is the best overall do-everything bike. It gets great gas mileage, is light and inexpensive. It's smooth shifting and has easy handling. Everyone worries about vibration with this bike but I don't see it until 6k rpm. which is over 80 mph in 5th. Even a Gold Wing only runs 4k at 80 mph. The bike surprised me at how well it did on the highway. I really like the windscreen. The tank holds five gallons at 50 mph. When I first test drove it, the front end geometry felt too light and fidgety but the online websites said to dial in some preload and it worked. The only thing the bike needs for me is handlebar risers which are available online. I have the Honda stereo and it worked good to about 70 mph. with the windscreen up. You can get seats heated grips and larger saddlebag lids as well. The only thing I did not like was the seat but I never like stock seats so I added a bead pad and it was fine. Hard bags, adjustable windscreen, good range shaft, drive fuel injection = a great, low maintenance, all-around bike. Unfortunately, the bike did not sell well in 2010/11 so it may not be around long. You can get a great deal on one now. I can't recommend it enough.

I have the 2010 NT700VA, with ABS brakes. As a midweight touring bike, the NT really has no competition. In my opinion, it offers good value for the buck. I have toured on this bike, and I really like it. (I did get the large pannier covers from a British dealer--they aren't sold in the US). I have the accessory top box, which works great, and the Honda soft bags for the panniers. The Honda heated grips are fine. A sport bike it is not, but it does have more than adequate power on the superslab. The suspension is very basic. The transmission is great, but it could use a sixth gear. I would rate the brakes as a "B". This bike is very comfortable and smooth, but its gets a little buzzy around 70+ mph. Nothing terrible, however. I would say this is too big of a bike for a real beginner. For solo touring or commuting, it is a great bike. Styling is a matter of taste--some people like the looks of this bike, and some don't.

I wanted to wait until I had this bike a few months before writing a review. This is a great bike for those who aren't into racing - it's not fast off the line - or cruising. I have owned everything from a GSXr 1000 to a Goldwing - and I very much enjoyed all of them. The NT is smooth, comfortable, gets great gas mileage and will easily travel at 80 mph. all day if wanted. It is not a heavy bike and is easy in tight spots. It is not fast from a stop but it will pass any car on any roadway. I commute on it 60 miles per day back roads and highways and have never felt underpowered. The side cases are great but you will need a bit more space for trips longer than a few days. It is typical Honda quality - not fancy, comes with a centerstand and good array of gauges. This bike has been around Europe for awhile. My biggest complaint is that there are not many accessories available this side of the pond.

I picked up my NT700 just over a month ago in Gastonia (great dealership). It's a very comfortable ride and does great on the interstate or riding the twisties. It has plenty of torque and is well designed for touring. It's heavy enough for a smooth ride on the interstate, light and balanced for slow speeds. I came from a cruiser (Vulcan 900), and am very happy with this bike. Also excellent gas mileage!!
