I purchased a 2001 929RR (black/yellow) less than a week ago. I only have 200 miles on it, so I'm still early in the break-in period. However, I would like to make it known that this is a very impressive motorcycle. The midrange power is awesome, and it continues to pull very hard throughout its entire power range. The fit and finish is among the best I have ever seen. It looks and feels great. It feels very similar to a 600...until you twist the throttle! The only complaint I have about this bike is that under high revs, the front end is barely touching the ground. Any slight dip or slope on the road sends the front wheel into the air. However there is another side to this paradigm- If you're into wheelies, you'll be in Heaven!! The 929 gives an optimal performance in the twisties, thanks to its high-tech structual integrity accompanied by its astonishing light weight. This bike will not disappoint you...Just thought I'd let you know in case you were having a hard time trying to figure out this one open-classer to buy. Happy motoring!

I was looking at the market for an open bike, since I want power and handling but also comfort I disqualified the R1 and GSXR750, as the ergonomics where less than desirable, especially for someone of my size 6,3" 250! lbs. That pretty much left the ZX-9R and CBR929RR, I opted for the better handling and fuel injection of the Honda. I wasn't disappointed, I've done 1350 miles in a few weeks on the curvy backroads of upstate NY. The bike would loft the front end at 6-7000 rpm in first even with all my weight forward. The bike was a revelation in the corners, it was a bit wallowy when pushed hard in a turn on the standard settings - probably due to my heft but a bit of tightening of the rebound and compression -- front and rear and the bike is perfect. It's very easy to flick and the front end feels precise but the bike needs a light touch on the bars mid-turn as it can change lean very easily and I found myself over-correcting. The bike on the Pilot Sports feels very planted and although I'm a rather average rider I've used all the tread profile in the back plus some more lean - as indicated by the extra .7 cm of front tread used- in my favorite turn. This says a lot about the confidence the package gives - especially with the tighter settings. The only time the front has slapped was coming down from a wheelie at 80 mph on bumps although it was a bit twitchy exiting corners before I tightened the damping. The wind protection isn't bad and there's space to duck behind the fairing unlike the GSXR and R1. Possibly the new GSXR1000 is a better bike but for all-round performance you can hardly beat this bike - 600 handling and maneuverability but with better suspension and some real badass power. I haven't ridden the R1 but these bikes are so well matched in terms of performance, why not go for the one that is also comfortable for a longer haul and has the dependable operation of Fuel Inj?

This bike is crazy. I recently purchased the 929 after riding a 600f2 for three years. The thing hits hard, and racing through the first few gears is difficult due to the thing bucking like a wild bronco. I love the fickability of this bike compared to that of the f2. It could use a steering dampener though. Brakes are excellent. Tires are a little slick until warmed thoroughly. Transmission is fairly good, although I have found a false neutral a few times. Speedo and tach are superb due to the digital display. Not much wind protection, but which new bike has? I really like the color choices. The only real negative thing I have to say when comparing this bike to the yams, suz, and kaws is the buzzy engine. My old 600f2 was buzzy, and I figured this new bike would not be. I have ridden yzf600's, and zx6r's, and they seem to run so smooth. If anyone knows about the smoothness of the f4i, please e-mail me. Also, please e-mail me with your 929 comments. I would like to share riding experiences. I rate the 929 4 stars, only because of the typical Honda buzz...

I recently purchased a near-new Honda 2000 CBR929RR with 1300 miles on it. It's got the Akropovik full-up pipe and SuperCommander FI box. It's very smooth, handles beautifully, has plenty of upper-end power, and is easy on the legs and back (I don't put pressure on the wrists). However, when I get on my old '97 TL, with 17k miles on it, it just kicks me in the butt vs. the docile Honda. When you start up the TL, it oozes character with an unmeasurable quantity of social impact (thanks to the hearty Yosh cans). The TL styling is very unique (Ok, subjective I realize). When you crack the TL's throttle, the front end climbs toward the sky, and I'm 6'4", 205 lb. The Honda's a wonderful piece of engineering marvel, with its own brand of bark, but given the choice I'd have to release my Honda back into the concrete jungle before I'd ever part with the bite of my TL. Nuff said.

The Honda is an o.k. not something to right home to mom about and it handles well. If you buy a 929 you must, must, must I cannot stress it enough buy a $300 plus steering damper or the bike's front end will shake unbelievable at high speeds. I regret buying a $9500 dollar bike and then have to go out and buy a $370 steering damper. The bike should of came with one already attached. The Hayabusa is great bike, fast as h..., weighs alot and very difficult to corner. If you want a bike that you can open up on the highway if your "BOYS" are all riding with you and just leave then behind get the "BUSA".****BUT**** once this bike gets up at above 140mph the distance it takes to slow the "BUS" down is hard since the bike weighs so much. The 929 and the GSXR 750 stopped at the drop of a dime, the Busa took alot longer to slow down. The GSXR 750 in my opinion is the best bike on the market. It is fast, light, and it corners like no other bike on the market today. The GSXR 750 loves to be ridden hard. The harder you ride it the more you love the bike. If anyone loves to ride on the track and street buy a GSXR 750. It will beat a 929,R1 and a ZX9.....If you know how to ride the bike well. All the bikes listed above are extremely fast and this really comes down to the rider on the bike, but I feel the GSXR is a better all around bike. Also, if you like to wheelie the GSXR 750 does it with minimal effort. Steering dampers are included on the Hayabusa and GSXR 750. Remeber everthing I stated above is based on my experience. If you want a bike that will last, fast, and fun get a GSXR 750. Trust me you will not be disappointed and you won't never be left behind by no R1, 929, or ZX9. Write me if you have any comments....See Ya. Be safe while riding.

Any advantage the R1 had at lower RPMs is now greatly reduced if not erased. Add this to the 929's superior braking and handling, and it's truly the best all around superbike on the market. At least that's my road tested opinion.
