I've had my F4 for just over a year now. Living in Oregon I have only put 2500 miles on it. It is very easy to ride and will dance to any tune the road puts out there, even in the rain. For the one-year anniversary I put on a TBR C5 CF slip-on. By god that made a huge difference. I was amazed that just the can replacement could do that much. No more hesitancy in the power at 4k, launches are much better. Only problem is don't rev it above 4k before letting off the clutch, the front will leap off the ground like it wasn't even there.

I have been riding the VFR since 1998. I just bought the F4 as a race bike but first I'll put a thousand miles on it as a street bike to break it in. Here is my comparison.... The F4 engine is very smooth and gears shift so smooth it is frightening. The VFR has a clunky gear box in comparison. The F4 does not have that nasty sensitive throttle like the VFR. Both top gear ratio appear the same, they turn 5.5k at 70mph. What is up with 6th gear on the F4, it does not appear to have much of a difference compared to 5th. you're at 80mph on the F4 effortlessly and well protected from the wind. The rider position is close to the VFR but not as comfortable, the seat is higher and puts a little more weight on the wrists. One thing I am really suprised about is how the F4 turns! Wow! It was built to turn. The VFR is like a slug in comparison. I wish the F4 had a clock and fuel gauge.

I bought my F4 in Jan 2000 and it was 1000 off of MSRP. The bike is awesome, more comfortable than an R6 and just as fast! I like the red '99 over the colors offered for 2000. There is always a crowd around the bike and all they ever say is wow! One ride and you will be... read more

I got my Honda CBR 600 F4 in February, 2000. This bike is beautifully balanced in both styling and performance aspects. I think target market for this bike are probably people who simply enjoy riding, but still want to have performance of a sports bike without sacrificing on comfort too much. Other thing with this bike is that I will not get bored with it. I found other bikes in this class are leaning towards different kind of buyers that like peaky performance over a reliability. By this I am not trying to say other bikes would be less reliable, but the point is these bikes will likely rev quite high, while I'll enjoy this Honda the same just at midrange RPM.

When coming down from high speeds there is a clicking noise in the front end somewhere, and the shifting down into gears through town is very poor. You have to play with the gears for a while sometimes for it to downshift. Anybody else experiencing this? I got the bike in Dec 99.

The bike is unbelieveable. Just when you think you reached your limit, the bike just suprises you by outperforming the competition. It may not be the fastest 600cc(only the R6 is faster), but it is by far the most competent Street bike on the market. It hangs with the big boys up until... read more
