This bike has the stopping power and handling of a smaller sportbike, but with 101 HP at the rear wheel and a decent riding position. The bike is well mannered, but will inadvertantly, and easily, lift the front wheel in first and second. It's got that wonderful "think it and you're there" acceleration at any speed. Even without downshifting, top gear takes you from 60-80mph in 3.59 seconds. First gear is good to 60mph, so your 0-60 time depends solely on how much rubber you can get on the road while keeping the front down. Big grins. With a 5 gallon tank, and averaging 40+ mpg (while still having fun), she has excellent range. The riding position is only slightly leaned forward, just enough to counteract the wind at 70. All around, an excellent example of fuel-injected modern bike technology applied to a ride that is equally at home in the city, country, and interstate.

This bike I would have to say is everything that I thought that it would be. It's a perfect seat height, great on power, perfect for long distance or for hooligan tactics through the backstreets. I sold my '02 Gixxer 600 for my '02 919 and took a hit on performance but I'll never sell or trade this...

I sold my '02 Gixxer 600 for my '02 919 and took a hit on performance but I'll never sell or trade this bike. My girl loves it, even with her on the back, I'll still egg on Mustangs who try me, new or old. Great for beginners, cheap on insurance and worth the money... every penny! I ride my bike year round and absolutely love it. I'm swapping out the chain and sprokets at 20k miles and have been through 1 set of tires. Other than that, the only cost has been scheduled maintenance. haven't noticed the notorious exhaust stench. Too many freeway hours, but actually a good...

Other than that, the only cost has been scheduled maintenance. haven't noticed the notorious exhaust stench. Too many freeway hours, but actually a good commuter bike (add some heated gloves) plus it's awfully sweet in the twisties. No complaints about handling, reliability, etc. I've done 450 mile days on this bike and remained comfortable. Really, it's an ideal all around ride. Did I mention that I love this bike?

The ride is a little stiff (haven't loosened up the suspension yet), the seat is a little stiff, but used to the crotch rockets. Most miles so far are with 2 people, and we both love the bike. Although we will look for a more comfortable seat. My first thought was a FZ1 but after looking the Honda was a more comfortable choice, sitting a little more upright, and the passenger positioning was more favorable on the Honda.

Got my 919 a week ago, man it does it all. Great handling, power, a real easy bike to ride. Of course coming off a 1982 Nighthawk 750, the 919 is like a space ship. For what you get, the price seems cheap, and insurance is very affordable as well. I plan on putting many miles on this bike, it's...

For what you get, the price seems cheap, and insurance is very affordable as well. I plan on putting many miles on this bike, it's enough for me right out of the box. I'm leaving it alone... I'll just tinker with my 572 Chevelle instead.

Thought about getting an SV1000 but when I saw this I had to have it and don't regret it one bit! Put some full synthetic 20W50 in it for the HOT summer days here in SW Florida and it runs smooth and strong. Power delivery is very controllable in any gear with plenty available at seemingly any speed. Put a small F16 flyscreen on it and you can't tell how fast you are going unless you look in the rear view to see the traffic disappear behind you. Can't see those little bitty numbers on the speedo anyway. Also I put some aluminum handlebars from a KX80 on it (pewter colored) and I like them more than the stock chrome ones. No bar weights and stiffer for a lighter more confident feel. Just ordered a black Tour Master Cortech Sport Tailbag for when I have to be practical. New tires next as bike had 4500 miles on it when I got it and the front tire is about worn out apparently from hard braking. Maybe some black header wrap too, to keep the heat off the shins. Just hit the magic button and GO!

Excellent bike! I've been riding for about 25 years. Generally, I get a bike, ride it, and trade it because I get excited when the new models come out. Since I bought my 919 in 2002, I've stopped trading. I don't even want to look anymore. This bike rocks! Probably the best handling bike,...

Since I bought my 919 in 2002, I've stopped trading. I don't even want to look anymore. This bike rocks! Probably the best handling bike, with the most usable power band for everyday street riding I've owned. Better than the Ninjas and Huricanes I've owned in the past. I've taken 500 miles in a day, and have no complaints about the ergos. My only complaint would be the exhaust fumes, but I like the bike so much, I'll learn to deal with it.

I've owned the 919 for a little over a year and have just under 10k miles(it was a bad winter). I've owned the 919 for a little over a year and have just under 10k miles(it was a bad winter). I'm coming from another naked bike (bmw r1100r) and I can't believe the difference between the inline 4 and the opposed twin. The power and torque on this bike is near endless. Have no illusions, this is a full out sport bike minus the plastic and you may as well be invisible because the local police don't even look twice. My favorite aspect of the bike is the handling, she's nimble at slow speeds, responsive in the corners and solid up into the triple digits(still needs a steering stabilizer). The seat is a little thin and any ride over a couple of hours will leave you wanting padded shorts. My only complaint is the vibration thru the whole bike, you feel it from the handle bars to the foot pegs and it gets worse when the chain gets loose(a good reminder to tighten your chain) The riding position is very comfortable and I'm told the rear seat is also quite nice. The cut of the tank is perfect for getting up close and personal on the tight turns, the instruments are functional and the exhaust sound is very distinct (4 into 2 into 1 into 2). Overall this bike is a perfect fit for my style of riding, you can be as aggressive as you want yet still ride 2 up in traffic or just cruise at any speed.
