When I bought my 2012 Switchback, I was downsizing from an Electra-Glide standard to something comparable but more lightweight and easier to roll around the garage. I have achieved those goals but with some sacrifice in more harshness of a ride and an intrusive high frequency vibe in the handlebars at 80 mph. and microscopic saddle bags. Nowadays, I rarely take long trips and ride at 80 mph. for very long, but if I did, the vibes and the small bags would soon become an issue. Harley needs to address this with lighter pistons (or counterbalance) and maybe a bigger bag option for the luggage. I think the harshness of the ride could be dialed out with different shocks and fork springs. Otherwise, it is a great bike and build quality is unmatched in the industry.

After drooling over this bike for three months, I finally got it in late February, 2011. This was the best purchase I have ever made. Every second I am on this bike I'm having a great time. I regularly drive on freeways, in the city, through the mountains or up the coast. It has handled great in all conditions. You do scrape the exhaust and pegs on the twisties. I only gave it a 4 star for comfort because my butt does get sore on long rides.

Listen...I'm so tired of hearing people knock the Sportster as...an underpowered bike, a Harley rip-off, or my favorite....a woman's bike. Who can resist the sight of that peanut tank and the feeling it gives you when you sit on Sporty and see that tank? You want a "bigger" bike, there are plenty of them out there. My wife owns this bike, and she loves it. It's got all the power she will ever need and Sporty is a perfect fit for her. I ride an Electra Glide Classic, but I get on her 883L every chance I get. It handles great, and has enough power/torque in 1st and 2nd gear to lift the front wheel. The ONLY knock we had about the bike was the seat, which I replaced with a Mustang solo. Hey, there must be a reason that the Sportster is still Harley's number one selling bike in its arsenal. The problem a lot of people have is that too many equate size with performance. The 2007 883L is a fuel-injected performance machine. Get off its back and on its seat and you'll find that out for yourself.

I bought the bike in 2010 used. It had low miles. I've ridden it very hard. It's been perfectly dependable. The rear tire and brake pads wear very fast but that's not the bikes fault. The only time it's ever thought about over heating was when it was used as a dirt bike. Average gas mileage varies from 29-47 mpg. Top speed is around 115 mph. Max cruising speed is around 90 and the best speed is 70. For a long 700 lb. motorcycle, it has good low speed manners. It's very stable and forgiving. Let out on the clutch and she moves forward.

After deploying to Iraq, I was determined to reward myself by finally learning how to ride a motorcycle. (Not an easy thing for a guy over 40 years old.) I took the course (passing the second time) and went to a Harley Davidson dealer in Fairfax, Virginia. While I loved the style of the Road King, Fat Boy, and Softail, the massive size of those models to a first-time rider were daunting. I chose to purchase a Dyna Super Glide, which would serve as a nice commuting vehicle and give me a comfortable option to cross state lines while touring. The stock seat leaves a little to be desired for rides over two hours long. Otherwise, I am delighted with it. It has a managable weight, great acceleration and response and it's affordable enough that I could spend more money for custom parts and paint. Being a year-round rider, my first riding experience has been ongoing for a year and a half and I haven't looked back. (Just checked over the shoulders while changing lanes.) Thank you, HD!

I recently purchased a new 2012 Harley Dyna Switchback. I have owned several bikes of different brands. This is my sixth Harley. I must say this is the best bike I have ever owned. The handling is amazing. The ride is firm but comfortable. It rides two up very well. For my age (65) and size it a nice fit for me. It's not too heavy nor too light. It is a well-balanced machine. It is so much fun to ride, I never want to stop. Like every Harley I have ever owned, I had to change the seat. I put a new Sundowner seat on and now it is much easier on my butt. The new 103 engine is a nice touch. It has plenty of power for me and lots of torgue. I'm averaging about 42 miles per gallon riding the hills and curves of northwest Arkansas. I am very pleased with this machine. Nice job Harley.

This is my fourth Harley, one softail and two touring models and this is the happiest I have been on a Harley. I added the touring windshield and a Sundowner dual seat for comfort and a Stage 1 A/C for performance and feel that is enough money spent on it. It handles better than any other Harley I have had in the twisties, and with a set of throw over bags, is good for a weekend tour. I really believe, as a bike that you can eadily mod to make it your own. This Dyna is the best model Harley produces.

To make the Sportster a better road machine, I replaced the seat with one from Mustage with a rider backrest. The rear shocks are progressive. I now have 47,000 mile on it with one small oil leak which was corrected. I am 76 years old, and I still love to hit the open road on my little piglet.
