I bought my first Duke last year, a new 900SSie full-fairing, and equipped it with the mandatory e-prom and well sounding pipes. I just must say that this is the best investment that I have done in and for my self. What a lovely bike! It is as beautiful shaped like a hot blooded curvy latina (you know well trimmed and curvy on the right places), has soul and personality that I haven't found on any other bike. It looks makes everybody turns their head, even an older woman asked me to start my Duke up, she said "I just love the way your bike sounds". Yes, I fulfilled her wish. The bike has enough performance for twisty roads and has very good corner capability and stability. The bike itself doesn't have any problems matching more high performing bikes on these type of roads. It depends on whose behind the fairing and that persons driving capability (this one is for you who complained that you got blown away by an R6). Anyone can go fast straight! Even though it is a sports bike you can go touring for 2 weeks with it. Of course you cannot bring the whole closet with you, if you want to do that buy a Sushi Goldwing. A tank bag and a saddle bag that you strap on the passenger seat is fine. Givi has a very good saddle bag. It even works at 120mph. Now I am just waiting to my Duke out for this years premiere ride. So far I have almost 6000 miles on her.

I've had the 750SS for almost a year now and I think its one of the most underated bikes. I've had nothing but enjoyable miles and the lean angles on this bike is just tremendous. It just gives you so so much confidence when riding. Though my helmet gets flopped around alot, the bike is ROCK stable when buffetted by strong sidewinds; this even though the bike is rather tall. Power output is adequate and not intimidating. How fast can you go anyway in normal street and back roads riding? It is just a joy to ride. I weigh about 185 pounds. The complaints I have is the clutch which can be a pain after long riding in traffic. The clutch can also be very snatchy at low gears. Finally, the 750SS has so much road presence compared to most other bikes. People look and stare, drivers pull closer at the stops to get a look. Believe me, this bike looks beautiful in the sun, in the person. Sounds so cliche, but photos do not capture the subtleties of the design. The Supersport definitely is a Bike with stacks of character and involvement. Been sounded many times before by Duc owners, but the fact is for all its inadequacies, you know that you are riding something very simple and yet very special.

My 900SS is by far the best handling motorcyle I've ever ridden. And I've ridden a CBR f4i, a kawasaki sportbike, and numerous Harleys. The biggest difference between a Jap sportbike and a Ducati is definitely the handling, where the CBR wiggles and fidgets, the Ducati is always rock solid and stable!!! The funny thing is that the CBR was actually voted as the best middleweight sportbike, with complements on its handling. Compared to the Ducati, it couldn't hold a candle to it.....Did I mention how great it sounds too? oh, and if you haven't noticed, only mature men, and not punk kids- ride Ducatis. Face it- jap sportbikes are ghetto bikes.

This bike was the realization of I dream I had had since I was a kid. A brand new Ducati, ready to scream out of the box, and at less than eight grand. When the 2001 750 sport appeared, I thought that it was great that Ducati was finally dropping their eliteist mentality and offering a sport bike for real people. Lets face it, not every rider is at the 998 (or 999 as the case will soon be) level, and those poor working class stiffs like me would rather spend $20K on a vehicle that is built with more than a "monoposto". Still, I had been and still am a ducatisti to the bone. No one else out there even comes close to the soul or substance of the "duke". When the model introduced injection, I was at the dealer within a week. So far the bike has proven nearly peerless, but with the few issues I will explain, which in any event seem for the most part common to every ducati. First the worst..... The engine, though it is a 750cc puts out like an asthmatic japanese 600. I don't know why the italians can't seem to squeeze more hp out of the "pantah" twin, but it seems perpetually stuck in the mid 60 hp range and don't expect that to change too soon. Related to this is the exhaust sound a stock US spec supersport makes out of the box. Best explainable as not pretty. Luckily, there is a great looking and sounding fix for both problems, a set of carbon slip-ons and a new chip, courtesy of several companies who will gladly take another grand or more from you (Termis are the best, and most expensive fix). The only other major complaint anyone should have seems an across the board problem evident in all newer ducatis, and that is one of the cheapest seats in the business. This lightly padded plank is as good as garbage, and if you dont believe me try a 100-plus mi. ride and feel the numbness set in. Add a Corbin leather seat here and you have a perfect package. The 750 sport is ready to take on whatever role you ask of it, and you will feel as comfortable riding to and from the track as you do racing it there with some minor mods. These ducks are rock solid at speed, and features like brembo goldline brakes cannot be had on comparible bikes at any cost. Anyone who told you that Ducs have poor reliability is LYING. Any abused bike will have mech. problems. If you take good care of your Italian mistress...... You know the rest.

I've added the Sergeant's seat, K&N breather filter micron carbon fiber pipes and flush turn sigs in front. In the rear I have the fender eliminator kit from http://www.evoluzione.net/. It works great and was easy to install. All in all I love my first Ducati and reccomend it highly. It may not be a screamer like some asian bikes but it is loads of fun and looks SWEET!

I just smiled and held out my hand for the key. If you buy this bike for the right reasons, you're going to love it. The right reasons are, it's a torquey, old technology L twin motor wrapped up in state of the art componentry. The motor is it's true beauty. There's nothing like reaching for a handful of throttle at 3500 RPM and feeling that long stroke, stump pulling power hit ya in the butt while the sound coming through the aftermarket carbon fiber twins sings in your ear. If satisfaction in the total motorcycling experience is what you're looking for, this is your bike. If quarter mile ET's and ultra high RPM/horsepower figures are what your looking for, look somewhere else,... until you develope some taste.

25 years ago, when I was a poor graduate student riding a 380 Suzuki as my only transportation, I lucked into a chance to ride a 900 Duc. I have always dreamed of owning one, and finally made the jump! My 2000 SS (Carbon pipes, performance chip, and Cycle Cat risers) puts a grin on my fave every ride! I ride for fun and have no interest in going 120 mph, but the Duc does sneak up into triple digits every once in a while... The bikes balance of handling, torque, riding position (with the risers) and SOUND make it a classic.
