I love this Ducati!

This bike is my 1st Ducati, but my 8th sportbike. I was a bit worried about the tranny for the first 500kms, but all the false neutrals/missed shifts have sorted themselves out since break in. The bike has so much character when ridden. The sounds, the shakes, the looks, the feel, and even the differences day to day. It is very special every time I ride it. It lacks the head snapping acceleration above 200km/hr, but sub 200 it is really a wicked smooth ride. Naturally it is rock stable in the corners, and deceptively quick since there are fewer moments of holy crap as the bike is so easy to ride fast. I am very pleased and would buy this one all over again, which is saying a lot. My last Honda 929 I wanted to sell after 3 weeks. I have put Termi low rise, and a K&N filter with open airbox lid. The sound is to die for, and the machine has a quicker response now. First gear can power the front up at will, and second is just plain hang-on fun with the occasional small powerlift now. I would say I need about 10 more hp to have a pure dream ride machine. That would make the 1000ds a legend in sportbike rider satisfaction history.

Like just about all who enter here; I've owned a few bikes. GXSR's, Ninjas, and an old Hurricane, this bike is by far the most elequent expression of two wheeled bliss I've ever owned. It handles like a dream, I can't honestly say any of my other have come close as far as handling. Egonomicly it can be a bit uncomfortable, especially for long trips of 200 miles or more; but if we're buzzing around town, it's fun when I'm carving out shortcuts. When I first bought it I had a few issues with being able to cruise around at lower rpm's; it would spit and sputter. I quickly fixed that by remapping, Giannelli exhaust, cutting out the air box and K&N filter, and going down a tooth on the front sprocket. Now it likes to ride on one wheel. As far as quality and dependability; Ducati's top notch. I've had no problems. If you want great performance but not worried about being the fastest man on two wheels, this bike will make you smile and stare at her, each and everyday you own her!

The handling is phenomenal, power is fantatstic, & the riding position is agressive enough without killing you. With some additional acessories, (ie Performance carbon cans & & few other mods) , it looks great & sounds just as well. Once you get a Duc , you will never go back.

The trick to the Supersport is the weight. At about 415lbs it's a light bike. But the 750cc version is underpowered. It would be much better to go for the 900cc or the newer 1000cc dual-spark models, which get you about 80 hp after the mandatory exhaust, air cleaner and EFI upgrade. Replace the flywheel with a lighter Ducati Performance one and consider a slight regearing and you'll have one of the fastest real-world bikes around. Pick up from a standing start is awesome and plenty of punch for all but the certified insane. A lot of 40 something sportbike riders end up on these. A bike you can enjoy owning for years, that is as nice to look at today as when it rolled out. Oh, yeah, if you do decide to get something else (999 anyone?) you'll find the resale on Ducati's is much better than on most Japanese bikes. Not for everyone, but a pleasure to ride with the signature fast but stable handling that made the marquee.

The sound is lovely, even the Harley guys will turn their heads. The look of it is just a piece of art. Just knowing by having one is like having a piece of museum pieces. And for those speed kings out there. It is a wheelie machine... the top speed might lack compare to the inline 4's but I think the rest of the package just covers it.

She is eye candy and I love to wax her voluptuous curves as much as ride her. The sounds she makes are melodious. Her smell is intoxicating. She stacks curves in a graceful manner that other bikes can't touch. My wife is getting jealous of the attention I lavish upon her. Bravissimo Ducati!

Just because I am saying that this is a great starter bike doesn't mean you will get bored with it. I have had it for over a year now and I have not got anywhere near being bored with it, yet. I highly doubt I will either........ If you don't have a Ducati Monster yet, get it or get a bigger and faster Ducati... I feel that the guys with the Japanese bikes will be following you.

Hmmm maybe a MV Agusta next, gonna need a bigger garage.
