I do have to disagree with the statements I've seen here that the 2000 M2 Cyclone leaks because the owners don't know how much oil to put in them. I took delivery of my Cyclone this past April. At the 500 mile service, I needed the left side primary gasket replaced because it was leaking oil like nobody's business. At the 2,500-mile interval, the rear rocker box gasket had disintegrated, dumping oil all over the rear cylinder and back of the transmission and rear, inner fender. At the 5,000-mile service, the front rocker box gasket needed to be replaced because it too started leaking. Worst of all, at just over 6,000 miles the bike left me stranded on a local parkway when it just died. The Harley dealership diagnosed it as a dead battery, destroyed by engine vibration! You'd think that if ANYONE knew how to make a vibration resistant battery, it would be Buell/Harley-Davidson, wouldn't you?? The battery was replaced (under warranty) with a sealed, gel-type battery than I've been assured will hold up a whole lot better than the original. Recently the bike just underwent it's 7,500 mile service. Wonder of wonders, it didn't require ANY warranty work! Now here's the best part: Would I buy another Buell?? You bet your life! This thing is flat out the most fun, versatile machine I've ridden in years. I plan on taking Pridmore's C.L.A.S.S. with it next year. I won a local Battletrax competition with it. As long as I have my trusty 1999 BMW K1200LT as a backup I'll always own a Buell to play with!

I've owned mostly Hondas -- VFR's, old Interceptors, etc. I've ridden just about everything on the market -- Ninjas, Interceptors, Super Hawks, RC51, 929, GSX-R's..etc. This bike has it all. It meets the needs of my 50-mile-a-day commute. And, it shreads the back roads on the weekends. It is almost like it can change character whenever the mood hits - part cruiser, long distance tourer, sport bike...you name it. Let's face it, if you can buy one bike that is just as capable as an all day tourer or mad man wheelie machine...you've got yourself a winner. And for heavens sake...it doesn't leak unless you put too much in - sheesh!!!

Finally gave up on the teeth-rattling vibration, leaking valve covers, bad bike stand switch, oil drain tube placed where it was half worn through because it rubbed on the swingarm, not to mention having to have the swingarm replaced, the front motor mount replaced, tank vent replaced, etc. Bought a Honda ST1100, just as fast. Put 19,000 miles on in 12 months with NO problems....

But it's a controllable brute: fast but forgiving, loads of torque, and rock steady at speed. Definitely the most fun of any bike I've owned (out of nine).

I'm a motorcycle junkie. I love almost all bikes but the Buell M2 does it for me. The guys that say it's a HD and leaks oil like a banshee don't own one period. I have 15000 miles on mine and it has never leaked a drop. I was at a local gas station the other day and 2 young guys were checking the bike out, not knowing I was the owner. The one guy said it was an awesome looking bike but not that fast. The other guy said " I'm sure you can make it fast". I felt like flipping them the key and telling them to go for it. Sure, it's not a Hyabusa but from 0 to 100mph it has so much torque that the pure riding experience will make you sold on the Buell. The bike tops out at about 125mph but, it's strong all the way up. My contention is "where do you do most of your riding at?" from 0 to 100 mph or 100 to 150mph? If it's the later buy a Hyabusa. If you want pure ass in the seat torque up to 120mph buy a Buell. I would also suggest you slap a Vance and Hines exhaust and a Mikuni Carb on it but, save a little money for a back tire because your going to need it.

This is perhaps one of the best overlooked sport bikes on the market today. And that's OK! Supply is low enough so that you do not see yourself every five minutes, and dealer pricing is fair. The Cyclone M2 does a fantastic job of meeting the needs that most sport cyclists look for. It has a strong and reliable powerplant in its Harley-based V-twin, muscular good looks in its reduced-fairing, "naked streetbike" clothes, and tenacious handling from its large tires and low center of gravity. The bike is best, however, when looked at subjectively. It is just an absolute blast (apologies to Buell's other model) to ride. It sounds as good in your driveway as it does going down your favorite back road. It just fills your senses with the essence of a proper sport road bike. As an added plus, it is perhaps the only sportbike that is friendly to American-sized riders. At 6'4", I'm way too tall for any of the 600 CC Japanese bikes.... But the Buell fits me perfectly. It also has a great suspension and a wide saddle for extended rides. If you are in the market, you should test drive a Buell before buying anything else...Buell allows test-drives as a policy. And if you don't...great too! More attention for mine!

I've always owned Jap sport bikes and I got to tell ya that this is more fun than any Jap bike I've owned. It's got more torque, more comfort, is very nimble and just plain fun as heck to ride. I had one major problem with the bike however, the bike was not capable of going over 85 mph due to a bad head shake. the harley dealer I bought it from said they could'nt help me because its illegal for them to ride it that fast and Erik Buell told me he could'nt help me because of liability reasons. I thought that sucked. Anyway, my good friends at American Sportbike fixed me up. I unbolted the front axle and loosened up all the fork bolts, bounced it up and down a few times and bolted it all back together and voila!! Easily maintains 125 solid as a rock (if the wind doesn't blow you off)!! If I ever buy another bike, it'll be another Buell.
