My experience with this bike has been great. This bike is a supernaked. Which is to say a full performance version with less fairing. Things to note: handlebars, no clip ons! The riding position is excellent. You can ride this bike for hours without getting cramped. What the magazines and videos call the rider triangle is even good for 6 footers. All that said you better be comfortable and ready to rock because when you open this bike up the performance is amazing. The quick shifter works up and down and that's good because if you use full throttle in first you will have trouble getting your foot up to catch second before redline! This bike has the full complement of electronic aids, (even cruise control). I use the wheelie control because it will lift the wheel up so easily I don't want to worry about it in normal riding. The acceleration is HANG ON! The handling is fantastic. Ohlins dampers all around with every adjustment, They are manual adjust, but if you under stand setting up once you get it, you probably won't change it . The bike is so good every time I think I have too much entry speed the machine just laughs at me as if to say, "I could have gone a lot faster than that". The cornering is confidence inspiring. It just works and any time and at any lean angle. I have never been in a situation that I felt that this bike couldn't handle. Another plus is even if you stay stock exhaust (ie LEGAL) it sounds great! I am glad that I bought it. Show less

I am in the midst of buying my fourth Aprilia and it's my second Tuono 1000R. It's the best all arounder bike out there, more comfortable for my wife than a Honda VFR, more power and fun than one, too. It's value for money and here in South Africa, you stand out as Aprilia is not big out/down here. Show less

I have a aprilia tuono 2004 since 2006. It's a very exciting bike with lots of power. The sound is incredible through the akrapovic exhaust (no db-killer). I should hae bought this bike a couple of years earlier. Show less

I gotta say, this bike often gets overlooked as Aprilia is not a household name... but those who are overlooking it are really missing out. It is a great bike, comfortable riding position, and man does it pull. It can easily make a 21 year old out of a 30 something-plus man. A complete hooligan bike which can also cruise city streets. If you have not straddled an Aprilia, make it a point to do so! Show less

The Tuono instills confidence right from the get-go. What a great naked liter bike. It was soooo hard to keep it under 6000 RPM those first miles, but the huge torque and relative smooth-running at low rev's helped immensely. Then 7500 rev's for another little bit. Took 10 days of after-work evenings to break it in; just could not get back on my Ducati ST3 without feeling it was an unrefined beast. The Tuono is now THE ONE for solo rides and such a pleasure in the twisties. Not a single issue with it... the lack of a fuel gauge was at first, but a few tanks later you get confidence in the range between petrol stops. The tires (Metzlers) are superb, albeit a bit too soft for lots of road miles (it is, after all, a track machine it would seem). Must slow down as 140 MPH feels soooo good on this baby. The multi-function display is easy to read, easy to use, and keeps tack of all the important stuff. Now I want the RSV Mille! Show less

This bike will give you that major grin factor every time you ride it. It is a highly tuned superbike in an upright package that is flat out thrilling to ride. Right out of the gate it has major torque and just keeps on pulling to well over 9k RPM. Ride and suspension are tight and responsive, in fact a little stiff on slow street rides. I have owned a Ducati Monster and test rode the new Ducati's: 999,S4RS Monster and 1000 Multistrada. One ride on the Tuono R and its all over, you will be hooked! Show less

This bike by far is one of the most total package bikes on the market! I travel some 86 miles one way to work, and there is never a dull moment on the road. The powerband on this bike is great, not to mention the handling. I have all sorts of upgrades such as the shotgun pipes a powercommand etc, just to be sure those "PONIES" are there when I need them. This bike is absolutely stunning. That may be an overused cliche perhaps, but ride one and tell me I'm wrong. I own one of the last serial numbers for year '03, but this site begins the list at '04 for some reason. The Tuono itself is an outstanding work of art that is up to more than anyone I personally know can throw at it. The motor is incredibly flexible without being sewing machine smooth (read: no soul), like the current liter bike herd. If what you're after is being the fastest plastic repli-racer on the roads, look elsewhere. If you want a bike that turns heads (most people simply don't know who Aprilia are - I love the uneducated masses), offers all day comfort and can still tear it up through the twistys, look no further. The Racing (now Factory) versions Ohlins suspenders, radial Brembos, and SuperCorsas are total overkill on the streets, but they offer a nice bit of bling for the Sunday morning pancake crowd. And last but not least, the carbon bodywork is gorgeous. Worth every penny. But don't take my word for it, get out on one for a test ride. Just watch that throttle in first gear... Show less
