I purchased it new in April, 2010. The leaking head gasket I replaced at the 600-mile check up, otherwise it runs great. The only real complaint is the seats. It's a bit uncomfortable (hard) after a day of riding. It looks and feels like a much larger cruiser. I have gotten a lot of good compliments on the looks and styling. It cruises fine at highway speeds even with two up. The bike does work a little harder at acceleration with a passenger on board, (of same weight).

I have a 2007 450 but I really missed the fun of a two stroke. Now that I have both bikes, I don't race the 450 as much as I used to. This bike is too much fun, it rails the corners, it's light and is easy maintenance. My son was racing a 250F but now he prefers dad's 250 two stroke. The two... read more

This bike is too much fun, it rails the corners, it's light and is easy maintenance. My son was racing a 250F but now he prefers dad's 250 two stroke. The two stroke is definitely not dead and, thanks to Yamaha, I can still fill my need for a real MX bike.

I love my bike! I owned a YZ250 before this, and I regret not getting a 450 a long time ago. I was very fast on my 250, but on my 450 it's ridiculous. Speed comes way easier. I find myself in 3rd gear pinned around any obstacle. I can lay almost completely sideways on any corner and not fall over. Stock suspension is amazing. I don't feel anything to breaking bumps or whoops. Power response is perfect. I can't wait for the GYTR power tuner.

This Yamaha fits my riding style and comfort perfectly! The dealership was great to work with on a new 2009 that they had in stock. They gave me a fair price, answered all of my questions, and went out of their way to make sure I was happy before the sale, and after. This dual sport bike does everything it should and with enthusiasm. After comparing with the Kawasaki KLX250S and the Honda CRF 230L, which they had in stock, the right fit was the Yamaha, and I couldn't be more pleased. In the first 200 miles and following the "Break-in" procedures, I have been on the street, short freeway runs, and on some light off road trails, and the bike has excelled in each area. The 250cc engine is plenty of power, coupled with the light weight of the bike, make it user friendly in any conditions. The bike is made to last, typical Yamaha, with great styling as well. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a true, dual-purpose motorcycle.

They have been bullet proof, and cheap to maintain. I've had a couple other brands before these, and nothing has compared to the overall joy of owning and riding a YZ 2-strokes.

Just got my first R-1 after riding GSX-R's and there is a huge difference let me tell you. Although the GXS-R is supposed to be lighter than the R-1 by the books, I think it's totally the opposite. Handling on this Yamaha is by far better than any 1000 out there. Trust... read more
