This is the motorcycle I focused on when I got my license. But I did the practical thing and bought a Suzuki 250 to learn on, and was ready to make the move to Bonneville one year later. The ride is balanced and strong - I don't have to white-knucke it when a truck passes or I'm doing 55 mph. The bike has power to accelerate and pass, yet does not get out of control. On my first trip home after picking the bike up from the dealership, I did not hesitate to take on the highway - I felt that confident in the bike. The second day I was stopped at a traffic light, and a Harley pulled up next to me and said what a good looking bike it was and wanted to know the make and model. It is classy, has a history - Steve McQueen rode one - and maintains it value and good looks.

The Thruxton rides as good as it looks. It has sufficient power to allow you to have fun with it. It could use a little more, but for the most part, I only notice the need for an increase in power when accelerating on the freeways. It handles pretty smoothly, not bumpy like sport-bikes, but it can keep up with them. Everyone that has ridden it marvels at how smooth the engine is and how it doesn't vibrate. The part with the Thrux- pull up next to a group of Harleys, and everyone will be looking at YOUR bike, not the silly Harleys...

I rode Triumphs back in the 70s and early 80s, and really loved a lot of things about them, but the faults got to me, so I gave them up, and started riding Japanese bikes in 1983. Then my brother bought a brand new Triumph Thunderbird in 2000. That started me looking at Triumphs again. Last summer, I rode a 2002 Bonneville that a friend of mine picked up...and I made up my mind that I needed to have one. Last week, I bought a 2008 Bonneville T100, with less than 600 miles, and I am one happy camper! What a truly WONDERFUL motorcycle! It's everything I loved about the old Triumphs, without ANY of the faults! Each time I ride this bike, I'm a kid again! Smooth...good power, excellent brakes, and outstanding handling. The icing on the cake is that it has the classic, timeless good-looks of the old Bonnevilles. Often times our memories of machines we've owned make them better than they were in reality. The new Bonnevilles make those gilded memories a reality. I feel like I've come home again! Thank you Mr. Bloor, and all the Triumph team for not just bringing back a great old name, but, making it better than ever!

Great bike that is enjoyable to ride, despite its size. The bike is fine in the car park (parking lot), handles very well, is stable and that motor...just awesome - power is everywhere and you can dial up speed any time ya like. If you are looking for a unique experience and like to pile the miles on, I can't think of a bike you'd enjoy more. Test ride it if you get the chance, you will not be disappointed.

Ok, here's my story. I'm 50 years old, have ridden all my life, have had 44 motorcycles, all of them Japanese except for one '73 Harley Sportster, and one '66 Triumph Bonneville. The Harley was junk, and for the most part, so was the Triumph, but it had a charm to it that neither the Harley nor the Japanese bikes had. So, it was time for a new bike, and I wanted this to be my last new bike. I also did not want it to be Japanese. I checked out the Harley 883 Sportster, but it felt too small, plus the dealer wanted to add to many things onto the MSRP. Also, I just didn't get a good feeling from this dealer. Then I remembered the Triumph. I went to the only Triumph dealer in my area, sat on and looked at all the different cruiser models, and settled on the Speedmaster. It looked beautiful, and fit like a glove. And I loved the tubeless tires and air cooled engine. The icing on the cake was the deal I got on an '09 model. OTD for under MSRP. I wrote the check, and the deal was done. No turning back now. Understand I bought this bike without even riding it. I was almost afraid to ride it home, afraid I'd be disappointed. No way. I've owned many nice bikes, of all different types, but I immediately felt at home on the Triumph. I knew it would be comfortable, but I was amazed at the way it handled, at how it responded to control inputs, at how the controls felt. It was perfect in turns, shifted great, and the fuel injected engine (my first) has excellent throttle response. While I wouldn't recommend this bike for 2 up riding (look at the America for that)I've always been a solo rider. Though I only have a little over 1000 miles on it so far, I have already developed a bond with this bike that I never had with any of my other motorcycles. This bike may not be for everyone, but if you are looking at a Harley Sportster, or a Japanese cruiser in this size and price range, both the Speedmaster and the America are definitely worth more than a casual look.
