2008 Harley-Davidson reviews

After many miles I still love this bike. I have done numerous 500+ mile days with no problem. Others have complained of vibration thru the floorboards and bars, but I get none above an idle. Lots of shake at idle, but I can deal with that. Biggest problem is heat at low (in town) speeds, but realize, this is NOT a crusier, but a touring bike meant for the open road. I have had 2 warranty issues. The big one is the bushing on the main shaft went bad at 30K, replacing everything in the primary except the compensator sproket. It's now noisy again at near 50K, so back in the shop it goes. Glad I got the extended warranty. Other problem is the heated grips (covered under warranty as I had the shop put them on when new). I'm considering trading for the new Ultra Limited. Show less

Still Lovin It. Spent a lot of time riding in the hot desert southwest this summer. A lot of hard riding in 100+ degrees. Other than an intermittent problem with the Harmon Kardon radio the bike ran flawlessly. Harley needs to fix their radio! I'll probably stick in an aftermarket unit this winter rather than deal with a rebuilt radio(under warranty)that will probably fail again. Planning on a coast to coast trip next summer and have to have my tunes. Show less

This is my second bike, let me say I was skeptical at first, but Harley Davidson makes an exceptional product. I have owned my Ultra Classic for a little over a year and have over 8ooo miles and that's just weekend riding. The only complaint and it really isn't a problem that is not correctable is the heat from the engine. I took care of it by installing a dual exhaust and it made all the difference. Other than that it is a great ride and I am proud to be a HOG member. Show less

Had the first service done and am very happy, bike runs well and handles great. Very good gas mileage. With everything adjusted, the bike performs like it should. If you buy a Harley, you need to ride it and break it in right then have everything adj and the fluids changed. YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THE WAY IT PERFORMS if you break it in right. Show less

10 k and still going strong. Very reliable and starts every time. Very few adjustments needed outside of routine maintenance that I attribute more to Milwaukee roads than HD design flaw. Looking forward to the next 10k. Show less

This bike has been rode every month since we've had it. Almost 18 months. Even with two up (wife isn't small (either). Bike handles excellent. Has real good torque though out power range. Has been very comfortable for both of us on long trips. Been to Daytona and back, Been to north east Ohio and back. Did 648.7 miles in one day on that trip and both were comfortable. Gets excellent fuel mileage unless you start laying on it, on the Ohio trip, we did almost 1700 miles and it averaged 44 mpg. Love this bike! Have had one gauge replaced that took water. Show less

Having owned motorcycles since 1970, with a used red 1982 Harley-Davidson FXR Super Glide in the mix for the longest run of 9 years, I decided to purchase another one. This time a new black 2008 Harley-Davidson FXD Super Glide, with it's 96 cu.in. Evo engine, 6 speed, fuel injection and beefier front end, just to name a few major differences. This bike sits right, feels right and delivers pure smooth power. I feel proud to say I own this machine, and would highly recommend it to anyone. Show less

Nicest riding bike I have ever owned. Been to Rocky Mountains, Tennessee, and did Deals Cap Dragon Trail twice - loved it. My wife likes it also. Show less

What a wonderful touring bike. A 400 mile day and still ready to go dancing. No fifth gear noise and yes, all Harleys vibrate and are hot. My 05 roadking was just as hot. I do not have any regrets with my 08. I think that the people that are new to Harley need to realize that these bikes are true motorcycles and not a lot of plastic. I do not knock other brands, if you don't like it, sell it. don't buy a bike because of the mystique, the reaction of others or the sound, buy it because these is the type of person you are. Have been riding Harley's now for 30 Years and hope to continue for many years to come. Show less

Bought this bike new in Anchorage, Alaska- I can't say enough good things about the people or the state, GO THERE!. Rode from Anchorage to Fairbanks, to St. Pete. FL. 5 weeks. No problems. Now we're back in Belgium, and this bike is a great traveling companion. After 43 years of riding, and I don't own a car, this bike is one of the best I've ever owned.
