I just purchased a 500ltd after fighting to touch the ground on a 1100 Shadow. Size matters in the fact at 59 years old I want fit and comfort. When I was younger I wanted to look cool and now I want to be cool. This little big bike has plenty of get up and go and I found it to handle truck drafts close to my big cruiser. I am just puttering through the break in. I did punch it enough to tell it will haul me plenty fast.

This is my 3rd bike. I've had a 250cc dual sport & a 600cc sport bike but I like my Ninja the best. It's the perfect balance of weight and power. I took it to TX in some bad weather and back in rain, wind and fog. The Vulcan was the right choice. It is very reliable, has good brakes, suspension and easy handling with large, dry saddlebags. It has the power necessary to merge and perform lane changes on the highway. Even with the windshield and Saddleman mounted on it, the bike did well in most winds. It is a bit thirsty though at 38 mpg average and a 160 mile range before looking for gas. It's the right choice for long trips and fun locally. Crash bars are handy for 5 mph drops (twice - ooops) as they protect all but the mirrors.

Then it's bang mega power. I now use this bike at all my track days and CCS racing and I could tell you without any reserve that the liter bikes can't catch me! Believe me, I blow by every liter bike by out braking them and getting out of the curves harder and faster. I love this bike! It has the best brakes I have ever felt.

Both the wife and I are on the large size, so when we were looking for a ride we needed one that would be large enough for us. The 2000 LT is the one we chose. We tried most of the other popular cruisers (H-D, Honda, BMW, etc) but the price and comfort of the LT was the best combination we could find. Not only does it have lots of power, but the size makes it a solid ride on the highway and it feels safe when wind or buffeting from passing vehicles occurs. Yes, there is a noise. The wife hates it, she says it whines. However, considering all things, I can live with it. Other than the noise, my only other detraction is how easily it scrapes the floor boards on windy roads. But then, it is NOT a sport bike. The best things are the gas mileage it gets and the stopping power of the great brakes. It feels a lot better than when we rode two up on our 1100 Moto Guzzi. Over all it nicely fills the bill for what we wanted, a reliable, large, comfortable cruiser.
