It's a little bit rough at low speeds, very, very smooth at high speeds and extremely fun on the twisties! The break fluid reservoir was leaking at 1k miles. I replaced the cap and, other than that, everything is superb. The seat is OK for city rides. I might get a Sundowner for long... read more

Ok, so whoever wrote that blurb about this bike couldn't be farther from the truth. This bike is incredible for ripping around the city. Throw on some lowers and a trunk and you have a very comfortable touring bike, so it's like two bikes in one. There's lots of power and that person seemed to moan a lot about the stereo system. Well...it's a bike! If you want a better stereo, buy a car. With all that aside, the stereo sounds great and I would be willing to bet you'll find yourself turning it down when out for a ride. The 6th gear is, YES, used on the highway! Talk about complaining about the obvious. you're not going to rip around the city in 6th. I previously had a bike with only 5 and I'll tell you this much, on the highway, it's super nice to have the 6th. Strap on some highway pegs and a driver's backrest and you're in for one comfortable drive! I recently took my driver's backrest out and forgot how much pull is with this bike. Hold on and rock out!

I have owned several motorcycles from Harleys to Hondas. I will say, the look of the V Rod when it first came out had me wanting it. I have put over 14,000 miles on it and love every mile. The power is awesome! The look is still impressive. The only complaint is I am 6'4 and the foot pegs are a little cramp on the long rides. But, this is by far my favorite ride.

I had my 07 Heritage until this last December end of year 09. It is a excellent bike but did get warm sitting in hot traffic. Never did notice 5th gear problem I hear so much about it did change pitch in sound a little but I actually liked that so I knew when I was in 5th? This bike would fly with the rush slip on and ECM race tune and intake kit. Had plenty of power and sounded great. I upgraded to a tour bike the Ultra limited and it is good for the long runs but basically same as the Heritage. Overall comparison to each other is the tour does handle little better but it is heavier. The air shocks help in ride. I like the locking bags and fuel tank. You get six gallons fuel on tour bikes now also to run on. The Heritage is faster off the line but the tour is geared for smooth long runs under heavier loads so I think the Ultra has more torque bottom end.

I just had the bike serviced for the fifth trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. It was my only regular maintenance required for the past 21,500 miles. No surprises, it has exceeded my expectations of a big touring bike. I did 1,836 miles on her in 36 hours last year returning from Washington State. I'm 65 and found it to be very comfortable for that type of long distance riding. Heat; yes, Noise; no. It's all original except for two new rear tires, seems that 10,000 to 12,000 miles are all that I am able to get. I consistently get from 48 to 52 miles per gallon, not bad for a big bore tourer. If you can get your hands wrapped around a used one you won't be disappointed. Stay verticle and keep the shiny side up. Good riding in 2010.

A long-time H-D admirer, I finally found myself in a position to be able to purchase one, after riding Metrics for 35-plus years. Deciding on just THE one took HOURS o looking, listening, talking, reading. I decided the softails had 'the look' I wanted...clean and lean, agressive, stylish but yet ageless... As I studied, I found myself looking at the Deuce more and more. I zeroed in on a 2007, liking the lowered stance, the larger engine, and the extra gear. WOW! What a bike! The torque of the larger motor is astounding, even with two up here in the mountains. The ride is a delight, with little or no change with a passenger. And the looks? Bike enthusiasts and passerby alike, even senior citizens, find themselves staring into the Black Pearl paint and chrome, as if moths drawn to a flame. Not a ride goes by without someone telling me how much they like it. It is everything I could hope for in a motorcycle! Thank you H-D, for building "The Deuce"! (and yeah, the gearbox COULD be less 'clunky'!)

My bike finally looks, sounds and performs like a true Harley. Look up my review under exhaust. Now my bike is truly bad ass. Alsmost as if an additional gear was added. The sound is ever so sweet and the look makes my sporty look more chopperish. I love it!

Nice bike. No, I don't work for the dealer but the deal I got at a decent price started my love for this bike. Longest ride was from Connecticut to Nova Scotia Canada. 7 out of the 9 days were like riding in a monsoon. The bike performed flawlessly. I wasn't always a Harley fan...leaned toward Kawasakis... but this bike I like a lot. My downside to it was twice while riding in below freezing temps, the fuel injector seemed to hate the cold...for the first 10 miles on those mornings it idled at a higher speed requiring extra pressure on the brakes to bring it to a stop, also, it had hic-cups with the bike pulling away from the stop, bucking a few times. I can afford a new 2010 but with the economic situation I think I will hold onto it and not be disappointed. 35 mpg, great dealer service, decent price, good bike and great looking too. What else can a guy ask for?
