I recently added a KTM 640 Adventure to my stable that included two KLR650's. The KTM certainly conveys the impression that it is a machine born in the dirt. It has the pedigree and the quality engineering to inspire confidence once the pavement ends. I am tall enough that my KLR's allow me to stop with both feet on the ground. The KTM adds just enough height (especially when dismounting) that it demands care. While I haven't lost control of it yet, I cringe that the time is coming when I tumble off while trying to dismount in the Kroger parking lot. While that would surely be entertaining, it wouldn't be fun. If the bike proves to be as tough and durable as my trusty KLR's I will be well-pleased. I don't think I can honestly justify the cost (over $8K) compared to ($5k) for a new KLR, but the fun factor makes it tempting to try. I am presently on vacation and my son and I will be giving the bikes a workout in the North Georgia mountains. We are eager to put it through its paces on some of our fine Forest Service Roads. Strangely, I find myself attracted to all things orange these days .... hmmmm.

This bike goes 85 with throttle to go. Bike performs great right from delivery; I think the front needs to be a little stiffer but great bike. I would want a 200 or 250 if I were going to do a lot of tight single track. However, for the desert it's great. I do find the seat very firm...Enjoy

Initialy I had alot of plug fouling problems, and I still think I might have a slight crankcase seal leak, though with jetting the plug fouling hasn't been an issue, though it still seems like something is not quite right. This is my only mechanical complaint as of yet. I have riden 3 harescramble races with it now. Terrain anywhere from sand, to grass, and rocky hardpack. So far everywhere I have gone the bike performed amazingly. Great all around bike!

This thing will revvv to the moon and still keep pulling, instead of just that dead power feeling like the other bikes. The only thing I didn't like was that you can't short shift it too much because it tends to bog. This bike is meant to be ridden in the high RPMs. FAST!!!

This bike handles great and has lots of power when you come out of the berms and turns it feels great. The front wheel comes up but is still controllable. This bike gets hole shots like you wouldn't believe. I get it every singe time I race. This bike is very ride-able; I am a B rider and my friend is in C class he is (6' 193 pounds) and he can ride it like there is no tomorrow. My other friend is in the A class (5' 3100 pounds) and it is perfect for him, too. This bike is also great in the woods. I do many hare scrambles and usually get two or three on this bike. This bike starts very easily every time even when it's hot and after it has been sitting for the winter, it started first kick. I am 14 and love this bike. Every rider should get one thank you for reading this and even though it's pretty expensive, it has been the best bike I have ever had.
      My bikes I had:
      1. Honda CRF 100
      2. KTM SX 125
      3. Suzuki DRZ 400e (dad's)
      4. KTM EXC 400 (dad's)
      5. KTM 250 SXF the best bike I ever had

This bike is crazy. It puts all other 125's and 250f's to shame. It pulls so hard and is easy to start, although if you stall it in a corner it can be kind of a pig. I love the ergo's after I moved the bar mounts forward as well as the bars. This is the best bike... read more
