I brought this bike as gift for my wife. The power is smooth and yes it will get up and go when you twist the throttle. It handles crosswinds very well. I ride year round, that was a nice suprise. As my wife is a new rider, this bike will enable her to gain confidence very quickly. The handling is great and the bike gives you good road feedback. I would have given 5 stars for comfort but she stated that the passenger seat could be softer and a set of highway bars will give you better comfort on long rides. If you purchase this bike, you will have many hours of fun riding.

It was affordable, and I wanted my first bike to be reliable so I could concentrate on important things...this bike is reliable and built solid. No problems yet, I've owned it for almost a year. I took it out of winter storage yesterday, and it started up right away and ran smooth as when I put it away last fall. It is a little small for highway use, but for cruising around town I love it.

I hadn't ridden in 30 years and then I moved to Texas. that's when I decided to get a bike again. I shopped around and looked at new and used bikes. I came across my 2006 Sabre at a dealer two years ago. It didn't take long to make my mind up after seeing this bike. I have been riding now for 2+ years and wouldn't give it up for anything. I just bought a Mustang seat and boy did that make a difference. Now I don't want to get off my bike.

I really did not need "more of a bike" as many say they do...believe me you can get in enough trouble with a 250cc...on to the 599. I found my 2006 Honda 599 at a local shop in 2010 with 1800 miles on it and for $4500. This is by far the best decision I have ever made and has everything you could want. I have had it up to 144 mph. If this is not fast enough for you and you call this "not enough", you might want to think about actually getting onto two wheels. I will agree compared to a CBR600RR it lacks in the adjust-ability of the front and rear shocks and the true top end speed, but I just don't have the need for playing around with all that stuff. The bike is simple, a real looker and loads of fun to ride both in the city and on the highway. I rode her up to Vermont for a cup of coffee last week and averaged about 132 mph. on the highway and even the riders on cruisers gave me the thumbs up.

My son and I bought the 2006 Rebel used at a great price and are using it to get started riding. We both just passed our MSF safety course and got our licenses. It's a great bike to learn on - very easy to manuever and light. It has good power and gets up to highway speeds pretty quickly and very smoothly. I have ridden it on the Atlanta freeways with no problem and it reaches 70 mph. without too much trouble even though you do get blown around some in windy conditions. It does slow a bit under that when going up long hills, but that has not been a problem. I am taller and it is a bit small for me. I have to get off and stretch a bit after 30 to 45 minutes of riding, but it's such a great value, I don't mind that. I would definitely recommend it to beginning motorcyclists.

I have owned many bikes in pretty much every category. I have a sickness...I always want the bike I don't have. That said, I think I'll be sticking with this one (at least until the VFR 1200 is deemed reliable). I have the absolutely gorgeous pearl white VFR. Compared to my last litre bike, this bike is slow. Compared to most vehicles on the road, it's fast. For real world riding, i.e. public roads with speed limits and day dreaming cagers, this bike has just the right amount of power. It's riding position isn't all-day comfortable without quite a bit of stopping but for a mid-weight sport-tourer I think it is a great compromise. The V-Tec is a fun addition. I don't really feel a huge power surge when it kicks in but it sounds upset and ready to rumble when it growls. You have to ask yourself what you want from your machine and for my needs (daily commuter, occasional 1-3 day trip) this bike is perfect.

It cruises well with two riders and I average 51 mpg. Through the hot Texas summer, it has never missed a beat. It is very low maintenance. It's easy to handle even with two riders and loaded down for a weekend ride. I have thought about going to a VTX, but could not give this bike up.
