Being on foot for about two years and last 2 bikes being BMW RT1150's, I was somewhat concerned about a single cyl. bike. After my first day of 375 miles in eastern Colorado, concern is no longer on my mind. Every time I ride this bike I love it even more and more than any I've had in the past. I ride primarily on the road but more and more off and plan on more yet this summer. So far no problems, just pleasure. A more comfy seat may be in order, but I'll wait and see after I feel I have my M/C butt back in shape! If you're thinking of one for road and gravel and dirt roads and some light trail...go for it!!!

I love this bike. Having owned many BMW's in the past 25 years this is certainly the fastest version of sport touring that I have ever done! However some modifications were in order. The seat is a torture rack after an hour. Solution: A Rick Meyer custom seat that also now allows me to be flat footed. Verholen bar backs and a Cee Bailey touring windshield completed the transformation of this bike to a more friendly, kinder and comfortable sports tourer. Oh and one last improvement for my small hands: Vario adjustable levers.

Great precision in this machine. Excellent ride and almost zero vibration. Two up is a dream with good accelleration and handles like a sport bike. Braking is second to none. When you're in it for the ride anything else is second best and at the end of the day you will thank yourself for buying this quality product. BMW's GPS is great and much smarter than most people you will get directions from if you can find someone at 1 a.m. in the morning. Instrumentation is clear and easy to read at speed.

Just picked up my Dakar, I have to give BMW a compliment, the Bike is so much fun and so comfortable and great to ride. I am from Europe and drove the Honda Africa Twin and other bigger Enduros, but the Dakar is by far the best Enduro I drove yet! It is also a big eye catcher, lots of people ask me at red lights what kind of Bike it is? Only issue, my Bike only has 82 miles on so far and I have a problem finding neutral, according to the service technician at the dealership the Dakar has a de-tuned racing motor and that the motor likes higher RPM,s but the problem should go away after the drive in period!?! Also, make sure that you are close to 6 feet tall, otherwise you have to stand on your tippy toes! Coming from big enduros to big heavy cruisers back to enduros, the BMW is by far the best and funnest Bike I have ever ridden! Go out and get one, you will love it!!!

It is perfect for me and what I want from a mid-size bike. Looks fantanstic, plenty of power, great mileage. With both a side and center stand, it is easy to keep clean and maintain. The single point aircraft type fuel port makes refueling a breeze and never a drop spilled. I like the fact the tires have tubes - additional safety as far as I am concerned. The stock windcreen is low - more for off road applications so I will purchase a tall version. Add a top case and overnight trips will be all set. I love this machine.

This bike is a head turner, insane amounts of power, stable at high speeds, comfortable and the list can go on and on. I drive in the city out to the end of Long Island and CT. The bike is a joy to be on. The other bikes in my garage are jealous. Only draw back I have is that buying another bike is difficult since the K1200R is an amazing ride. Ohh and when you are sitting in a restaurant eating don't be surprised if someone doesn't actually walk in the restaurant to talk to you about how they like the bike.

The power is more than ample and again will blow the doors off my Electra Glide and maybe even the V-rod. The comfort again far superior than a Harley. The power Kickstand is cool and works great. B.M.W. did their homework when they designed this one.
