I purchased this bike in Aug of 2009 with 3500 miles on it, it was a one owner. The last time we rode was the last week of october 2009. 2500 miles on the bike and I love it! The only complaints I have is the seat sucks after about an hour or so and the oil filter changing headache is a poor design. I will be going to an oil filter relocation kit soon. We rode 650 miles on a trip with 5 bikes last fall and we did 75 mph+ almost the whole way, never a hiccup or an issue. I am averaging about 45-48mpg (215miles/4.5 gallon tank, 47.77mpg),at those speeds with 2 riders and gear. The best mpg I have had so far is 56.45mpg, 175 miles-3.1 gallons. I have Cobra pipes, Kuryakin hypercharger and the dealership said a jet kit. The mechanic at the dealership said he has dyno'd a bike like mine and it had almost 80hp. Not sure how close mine is but it is A LOT faster than stock!! You won't regret it if you add these items. With the mods this bike hauls pretty good and people notice you because they hear you. I have 3 friends with V Star 650's and they like theirs too. I would recommend this bike to anybody. My bike has been mistaken for a Harley Fat Boy. :):)

I picked up this 2005 with only 2700 miles, I've added about 800 miles in the past 10 days and I'm loving every minute of it. Easy to maintain, beautiful and fast, it's the best of all worlds. I've heard it described as 1/2 sport-bike and 1/2 cruiser, I think that is a perfect description. Very comfortable, lightweight, reliable, powerful, and did I mention beautiful??? Great bike, buy one and you won't be disappointed.

Minor tweaks for fuel and exhuast slip-on (M4 Carbon and Ivan's jet kit), crash bars (SWMoto-tech). Luggage rack has been most useful (Rev-it). 125 HP on the rear wheel dyno, 120 on the as in seat meathod. Slight lag off line without high rev's, will drop greaing by 1 tooth at small sproket soon to save clutch, and to shot the holeshot without more drama. Old lady has gear now and is back in action looking safe and hot while she screams in her hat and grabs my belt.

This is my first street bike. Bought it used with 4800 km on it. It's like new. Road motocross 20 years ago and didn't want a bike that made you feel like you were riding a couch. I am not disappointed, this is a fun bike. Reminds me of my motocross days because of the way it feels and the way it likes to be revved. Just when you think it's starting to rev out that's when it really start to pull. I have not rode in 20 years but it did not take long to feel comfortable. Have not taken it on rides longer than two hours at a time so do not know how comfortable it would be on a really long ride but so far so good. Great handling, lots of power and super braking. If you don't have fun on this bike check your pulse.

First off I absolutely LOVE this bike. It has quick acceleration, is extremely lightweight and it is just overall fun to ride. I love how it has a 6-speed transmission, it makes the riding more fun. For a two stroke the power band is real smooth, I was surprised after I rode an older YZ. It has excellent high end torque and it is realitively cheap. HOWEVER...I have had one potentially major issues with the bike but it is preventable. I had to spend several months diagnosing and repairing the bike with my dad and it involved splitting the crankcase. Apparently, about 50% of all 2005 and earlier YZ125's have an issue with how the shift stopper lever is designed. There is a bearing on the end of it that tends to fall apart and pieces can go into the transmission and because the bearing is absent, you cannot shift out of whatever gear you were in. But, fortunately for under 30 bucks I'd estimate you can easily prevent the problem and save yourself $500 if you fix it yourself or easily $1000 if you take it into a shop. All you have to do is buy the redesigned stopper lever from Yamaha and assembly is fairly easy if you have the manual. The actual process involves just removing the side cover, taking out the clutch basket, and swapping out the stopper levers. Dont forget to buy a new gasket. So with the proper tools (including the manual) and a little bit of work you can prevent the only issue I have with this bike. Overall it is a dream to ride and a wonderful step up bike. Buy one if you're looking for a 125.

When I left, the dealer told me to be easy because it will feel different than my old one. Well he was so right. Off the gate this thing was screaming, "Go, go, go! I had to pull over and get my head on straight. Once I composed myself, it was a beautiful ride home from the dealer. It had no miles on it so it has all been me.
