2005 Triumph reviews

Wanted a bike that was nice and reliable, gave Harley a chance, could'nt come close to the America. Have had the bike now since February of '06 and have accumulated 5000+ miles on her, and is just now starting to develop her own "personality". She has just the right "backfire" through the stock pipes, I was putting through a parking lot at idle, and she "popped" just enough to kill the engine, which tickled me to death....She fired right back up. Had first flat tire yesterday, (4" concrete nail in the rear), had wheel off, tube repaired (bike patch from Wal-Mart), and on my way in under an hour! LOVE THIS BIKE....Can't go wrong..... I bought this bike in 07/05 and have put only 2000 miles on it. But in the mean time I have enjoyed every mile that I have ridden it. In fact the more miles I put on it the better it gets. The seat was my only real complaint, but that is getting better with each passing mile. I bought this bike because it reminded me of my 1965 Bonnie and I've wanted another Bonnie for the last few years. The advantage here is the increased reliability of this machine. Every where I go people will comment on the bike even at the local Honda/Yamaha dealer. Even my 26 y/o son likes to ride this bike. Old School Rocks Show less

This bike is 6 months old now and I am still in love with it. Fit and finish are superb, build quality outstanding. Only complaint is that at low speeds the bike reminds you that it is heavy... a bit sluggish. Once RPMs are up a tad, all is well and the bike loves to be ridden. I would buy another one in an instant and recommend it to anyone. Show less

I was introduced to Triumph motorcycles at age 13 when my dad brought a Cub home from England. I put many miles on that bike. Then in the mid '70s, I bought a used Bonneville that needed a ton on work, but when I was done, it was like riding a mustang. What a feeling that was. Last year while looking at Harleys I spotted some Triumph's in the corner. Since my birthday was just around the corner, and no one ever gets me what I want, I sat on a blue Bonneville and waited for a salesman. There was no way I was leaving without that bike. To date I have 3800 miles on it and it has preformed just perfect. You can't go wrong with a Bonneville. Show less

Have finally been able to get out and put a few miles on the bike. Has a very reasonable amount of get up and go for hops around town; I've not yet been able to try it out on a substantially longer ride. The classic styling hooked me from the moment I first saw the pictures a few years ago! The handling is excellent, and despite some complaints, I've read about the seat I've found it to be not too bad. As others have noted, the sound from the pipes would make a Singer sewing machine embarrassed, but that will easily be fixed with the factory off-road pipes. There are no mechanical problems, oil leaks, etc. to remind me of the not-so-great old days of British bikery. Overall, it's the bike I've been waiting a long time for! Thanks Triumph! Show less

I went from riding a Ducati Monster 620 to this beast and they are like night and day. You just think about leaning in a curve and the bike does it for you. It's so effortless, it's almost scary. Even at my size, there are zero issues with comfort or power. The power is sufficient from what I've been able to tell in the short time I've had it. I even have friends that ride rice rockets and they envy the looks of my 'Tona. My dad has even pondered selling his Monster 1000 to get a Daytona. I had a salesman at a local Suzuki dealership ask me if I was ready to trade and I effortlessly told him that I wouldn't ever even think about it. It's just the fact the bike is well rounded in all aspects and looks nothing like any of the other bikes on the market. I'm taking her to the grave. Show less

The Speedmaster is my first motorcycle of any kind and it has been absolutely perfect in every way.
I intended to get a Harley and looked at many other bikes but the Triumph simply looks and feels more natural.
The bike fits me like a glove, has plenty of power even for my size and looks like a million bucks without having to spend a lot of money. It's fun to ride and has very distinctive styling. You will get many compliments and be very satisfied with the Speedmaster. Show less

I rode a Bonnie in the 70's and I thought that was the ultimate bike, how wrong I was. The Speedmaster is true to its Triumph name giving you all the nostalgia of the old days coupled with all the modern technologies available. It's a sheer pleasure to get on and just ride. I love the low-end power it has - just open that throttle and you get the deep roar as it just starts pulling away. You need to, however, change your pipes to hear the roar as it is locked away with the standard pipes. The looks - well, what can I say? You cannot park it without coming back to find some one just standing drooling all over it. It also has a great sitting position giving you a long slender feel without feeling huge. As for the handling, I'm not sure how they get it to stick to the road the way they do, but it sure does - it just sits and follows the line you have given it. I have owned many different bikes, but only now do I know what I have been missing all these years. Show less

I bought my bike used in October off a small woman whom the bike was too big for. She felt like the Bonney was a beast, but it is actually just perfect for an average sized man. It has just the right amount of power and the seat and peg positions allow for a perfect, unobstructed road view. I often get appreciative and respectful nods from Harley guys while getting nice smiles from their girlfriends riding on the back. Two of my friends have a Moto Guzzi and a Harley. No matter where we go, the Bonney always seems to get the most attention. Show less

I bought this bike new in September after researching and reading about it for a year or so. I grew up in England when the original Bonnie was still 'the' Bike that everyone else copied, so when it came back out I was delighted to get the original! It has turned out to be the most perfect bike I have ever owned or ridden. Not silly fast like a Jap sport bike & not a rolling clique like a Harley. It was 'all most' perfect. After 1000 miles, I added the tachometer kit & the off-road pipes (both available from the Triumph dealer). Now it IS perfect. Not too loud, until you really get the RPM'S up, which I can now see on the tach. Every time I ride it, I de-stress within 3 feet. Highly recommended. Show less
