I recently purchased a used 2005 red Beamer Matrix scooter with about 140 miles on it. I ride the scooter daily to work and just for fun. When I first purchased the Matrix, it was restricted. This means that the top speed was about 30 mph. The scooter rode fine, but seemed sluggish and sputtered when running flat out. Once the CDI wire was cut (removing the restrictions), the speed and performance increased. It now runs faster - with a top speed probably a hair over 40 mph...just seems to run better overall. I enjoy my Beamer. It starts everyday and so far, it has been reliable when running. With the additional trunk and underseat storage, I seem to have plenty of room. I now have about 600 miles on the scooter. I have changed the oil and spark plug (not sure if this had been done before)and use a 88 or higher grade gasoline (usually 93). Based on its current performance, I would recommend the 2005 Beamer Matrix scooter for someone who is looking for a good first scooter.

First of all you can adjust the headlight with a flathead screw driver in about 2 minutes. I have about 12 friends with scooters and my drag record against them is 12-0. With the rear luggage holder filling with fuel is a pain due to the location of the tank opening. I suggest buying a small gas can with a funnel and filling the tank at home. Once you get past the "nerd" factor when you pull up alongside a "real" bike you'll have a great time! By the way, this scooter goes twice the distance on a gallon of fuel than my 94 Super Glide.

My grandad gave me this moped for my 14th birthday. It's awsome! It goes about 40-45mph. It rides good and takes off pretty fast! The only think I dislike is the light. When I ride at night the light doesn't shine far enough ahead of me even on the bright... read more

Nice scooter. Lots of torque, and my wife gets about 42-45 mph out of it stock from the showroom. Nice non-slip seat. I've been a cycle enthusiast since I was 14 years old when my dad bought me my first bike, a BSA Bantam 150 cc two stroke. I loved that bike even though it wouldn't warrant a second glance in todays competitive market. I'm now nearly 62 and have had a bike of one kind or another all my life. I currently have sold all my cycles having found the joy of maxi scooters but I find myself always going 90 to nothing from one place to another on another Iron Butt ride to rack up another long list of rides for the sake of eating up the miles. My wife just doesn't understand and has a Yamaha Razz that she rides and I share during the week running daily errands and such. She has mentioned that I ought to get me one so we could ride together of an evening. On a lark, I spotted the E-Ton at a dealer and bought it for her. She was estatic. It was red. I took her old Razz and off we went to discover the paved backroads around the small town where we live. I am so miffed. She took off and I never caught up till I met her at the cafe of the next little town we were riding to. The very next day, I went to the dealer and bought me one. These things are a blast to ride around on in the country. The're so quiet we sneak up on sheep in the fields and honk our horns and you should see the little sheep skurry about running into one another not knowing what to do. It's a hoot. Let me tell you about these things. I had never heard of E-Ton before I bought one but the dealer said he's handled them for several years and not a problem has surfaced. Parts supply has been excellent he says in terms of a tip over for mirrors or other parts replacement. The engine sounds busier than the Razz which is probably where it gets it power from. The bike reeks of quality and has features I wish some of the larger cycles had, such as turn signal clickers. The mirrors are dead-still (no vibration) and the engine is isolated so well you can barely feel it and then only under power acceleration. I thought 30mph was all we could expect out of this little 50 but boy was I wrong. Now, don't tell anyone but if you clip the rev limiter wire it will run up to 50mph with no problem. Now, I don't regularly do this, but it is capable of it and will do it. I normally ride the back roads with the misses at 35 to 40mph and it seems to run out well at that speed and I feel I'm not over taxing the engine there. This is a quality little scoot that should be advertized better. It seems to be a second brand at major dealerships. I rate it as first class. Good quality plastic. Great finish. A front hydraulic disc for crying out loud. Fat 10 inch tires front and back that give a remarkably good ride. Tires that seem to be able to handle sand or dirt if called upon. Great lights and suspension. I could go on. I just am enamoured by these things. The're a hoot to ride around on and did I mention I get 100 mpg? My wife gets 107mpg, but I outweigh her by a hundred pounds. With gas in excess of 2.25 a gallon, you could do worse than get yourself one of these.
