The best touring bike I have ever owned. This machine is comfortable on the longest of trips. The only complaint is I have trouble hearing the stereo on highways. Am I the only one? This bike when parked has passersby all over me talking about the machine. It is a real eye...

Just got off the bike, and I'm sure it will take days to get this smile off my face. It has great power, is really comfortable and rock stable. Did I mention the power? All that and ABS, what else can you ask for? Truly a bike that needs to be...

Love the bike - we have the r1150r edition 80 (white and black stripes). It easy to ride in the city and has plenty of power for the long highway rides. It has the sports bike feel (aggressive riding) without the need for a chiropractor. My girlfriend loves it in the city but isn't crazy about...

It has the sports bike feel (aggressive riding) without the need for a chiropractor. My girlfriend loves it in the city but isn't crazy about it on the highway - I thought it was a speed issue, it's a comfort issue. The seats do not make sense - hard as a rock. You get better seats on a half the price Japanese bike.

Re-entry bike for me. I have owned a variety in the past but it has been a few years since the last one. I looked all winter and began testing in the spring. I knew the 1150R was the choice within a few blocks of the dealership. This is a very comfortable and well thought out machine. I have the...

Re-entry bike for me. I have owned a variety in the past but it has been a few years since the last one. I looked all winter and began testing in the spring. I knew the 1150R was the choice within a few blocks of the dealership. This is a very comfortable and well thought out machine. I have the heated grips and ABS and like both. The gearbox is clunky and my only complaint. I can live with it but it is not up to the level of the rest of the bike. This bike is an excellent choice between a cruiser or sport bike.

I started riding a motorcycle three months ago. I had no previous knowledge of motorcycles so I took a riding class and bought the R 1150 based on reviews, price and recommendations. I love it. At first I thought it would be to much to handle, but in a short time I have become very comfortable and pleased that I got the 1150. I take it to work and I cruise open Texas roads. The bike handles great on both and is very comfortable for my size. Every night before I come in from the garage I just stop and look at it, the curves and lines are awesome and I get a lot of looks from folks around town.

I really like this bike. If my wife was more comfortable on the back (not enough leg room from seat to passenger pegs and not much wind protection), it would be perfect. This bike is designed to load it up, and take off for places unknown. With good traction (I don't have knobbies on her right...

I really like this bike. If my wife was more comfortable on the back (not enough leg room from seat to passenger pegs and not much wind protection), it would be perfect. This bike is designed to load it up, and take off for places unknown. With good traction (I don't have knobbies on her right now) every problem is handled by the throttle. Very good bike for adult size people. The R1200GS just feels too small. Maybe it's just the small diameter grips that makes it "seem" too small.

With over 35 years of riding everything from dirt bikes to small Hondas to Harleys, this is my first bike and I know I will keep it for a long time. I commute over 100 miles a day (round trip), mostly on a turnpike. I just get up to speed, set the cruise control, turn up the radio and enjoy the...

I commute over 100 miles a day (round trip), mostly on a turnpike. I just get up to speed, set the cruise control, turn up the radio and enjoy the ride. Brakes are fantastic, heated seats and grips are very fun, even in south Florida I used them a couple times. With my wife on the back we have enjoyed several nice trips. Handles nice, although parking lot speed can be a handful at times.

This is my third bike, replacing a Triumph Daytona and Suzuki SV650. It's great on back roads and on the freeway. The economics are near perfect after adding a Corbin Seat and Bar Backs. I lowered the pegs to gain leg room, but removed them after losing too much ground clearance during cornering. I still love it - good power, smooth, very stable in corners, very reliable - it almost needs a problem or two to keep it intersting and give it more character. It is German engineered and it shows. The quality of manufacture and attention to detail is amazing! I have a severe case of needing (actually wanting) another BMW - one just isn't enough!!

The only thing I would add is electronic cruise control.

I have the 2003 R1 150 R with ABS. I commute to and from work on the bike every day, thanks to corporate casual. The bike works great, in city driving the ABS is very good, after you get used to how sensitive it can be. My only complaint is the seats available from BMW, I have both the standard and the "comfort" seat. Neither one has enough support. Plus I'm in a slightly pronounced leaning position with too much weight on my wrists and palms. It has taken me a while to become accustom to the weight, at 530 lbs. Empty it isn't a light weight bike. Overall, I've enjoyed the bike and definitely recommend it to other riders. I think it does need some work on the peg placement, but that may be just because, at 56, I need a little less lean and more leg room.
