I bought my Boxer last September and have put over 5000 miles on it, while also riding my other bike 7000 miles since May. My longest trip so far is 260 miles and I could have ridden it further without any undue discomfort. The Big Dog is a comfortable bike considering it's a high performance custom and it fits me well. It has lots of shake at idle, but with the rubber mounted motor that mostly goes away at speed. There's little vibration in the bars. A Harley mechanic did the 5000 mile maintenance on it and remarked that it was the best riding custom he had ever ridden. Except for a few quirks with the gas tank cap and tach, and a leaking back cylinder top gasket, it has been problem free. It's a hoot to ride and it gets lots of attention wherever I go!

I love my Dog. I get a lot of looks on my bike. Emptied out the local Harley Davidson Dealership when I pulled up. Getting a lot of thumbs up from strangers on the road. Getting ready for bike week. The ride is hard over bumps. Still getting used to knowing when to cinch up in the seat to absorb most of the kidney cracking bumps in the road. Getting a lot of comments about the huge rear tire. I can't wait to ride it every day. I did have to replace the battery already. The positive post melted for some reason. My dealer will take a look at the bike and mentioned they may replace the battery free of charge. Will update that info.

Friend and I went on a 130 mile trip through the California desert and he complained his shoulders and neck hurt. (He has a H-D ROADKING) And I was on my Pitbull with no aches anywhere, what a ride! Worth the money!!!

Now it is in my garage. I took it for the test ride because I have had some HARD experiences with rigids. Guarantee you one thing, this is like no rigid you will ever ride. Well, it all worked out. My wife got her new 2005 FXD-C for Christmas. Get one.

So far, I have been very pleased with my '04 Chopper Dt. I have logged 500 miles with no problem. As of right now, I have a small leak coming from around the oil filter or the hoses that connect them. I feel this will be taken care of when I bring it in for the 500-mile check up. The bike has been a dream so far, and as far as vibration, it doesn't have near the vibration as my Harley Fat Boy did. I am Enjoying It.

So far my only complaint is for myself being long legged, I will extend the foward controls for more comfort.

I was a little hesitant of the rigid frame, but with the 300mm rear tire, the ride isn't that bad. Obviously this bike isn't the best pick for the long haul, but great for the limited time I have to ride. One other thing I wanted to mention about this bike is the "Fit and Finish" of high end quality parts Big Dog has choosen to use. I was impressed to see the majority of all the hardware is stainless 12 point or allen head. I did hours upon hours of research of all the leading "affordable" bikes currently on the market, hands down, Big Dog's got it!

If you've ever wondered what it's like to garner the attention of someone famous... buy this bike. Because every time you stop, strangers will want to talk to you. And as sweet as this bike looks, it rides and goes even better. The company is very responsive to dealing directly with consumer queries, plus it's very sound fiscally. So they should be around in another five or ten years if you have a problem. I ride two up frequently, and it handles just as well or better with a passenger. I think someone else mentioned that, too. Harley owners always laugh when I tell them how much I paid up-front. Then I start asking them how much they've added on since they bought their bike new. And usually in short order they realize who got the better deal, overall. Try to bring a Harley up to these specs of graphics and performance and you'll have $40K tied up in the project... with no warranty. Just adding a 240 rear tire kit to a Fat Boy is $10K. And you still have tons of room for personalization on a Big Dog. But the simplest thing to do is just order your custom graphics from the factory. In short, best riding and strongest value going in v-twin cruisers today... by far.
