Just wish Big Dog would have offered more accessories. Since I have owned this bike I have owned three other bikes, including one later model Big Dog, and let them go. This bike is a keeper.

Only mechanical problems were blown head gaskets which were replaced no problem by Big Dog and my local dealer, and a faulty key latch (not fun looking down and not seeing your key in the lock!) also fixed no problem. I get positive comments on every ride. Stripped down, it's a fine looking and quick bar bike. Bagged up, its good for 700 miles in a day and you can still stand up and feel all your extremities. High quality fit and finish well thought out. Would be nice if BD was a little more open about where all the parts came from.

Let's face it. When you purchase something that is not mass produced (i.e. - the Prosport w/ a high-compression high-output engine), there will be a few kinks. Yes, mine was in the shop for a new starter; however, it starts and runs great now. If I wanted a "Honda" or "Toyota", I would have... read more

Yes, mine was in the shop for a new starter; however, it starts and runs great now. If I wanted a "Honda" or "Toyota", I would have purchased one. Instead this is a '67 Shelby Cobra GT500. If you can get your hands on one - do.

Hello, Just a brief review of my brand new $26,000 2001 Big Dog Prosport. The one word to describe my ownership experience is "problems"... oil leaks, starter problems, carb problems, fuel reserve problems, overall quality problems. 31 of my first 45 days of ownership were spent at the dealer for repairs. I finally had to threaten legal action against Big Dog to get them to take it back. Of course at a couple grand loss to myself. I did it without hesitation just to get the lemon out of my garage. Oh sorry, my dealer's garage. This was without a doubt the worst vehicle purchase I have ever made. I can't believe I paid $26K for this experience and sold a beautiful 2000 Road King for this lemon. The saving grace to this whole nightmare was that I was able to get my order in for the new V-rod. That bike really delivers! I've had the V-rod for several months and could not be happier. Note to reader, fore told is fore warned.
