I recently had the opportunity to ride a friend;s 2000 X-1. The overall handling of the bike impressed me, but the motor isn't impressive at all. It starts to make good power at 5000 rpm, but red line is 6500 rpm. Below 5000 rpm there isn't a whole lot of power. I would probably go for the M-2... read more

It starts to make good power at 5000 rpm, but red line is 6500 rpm. Below 5000 rpm there isn't a whole lot of power. I would probably go for the M-2 instead and upgrade the suspension to the units on the X-1. If you can live with the peaky motor, go for the X-1, just don't expect the same level of performance you can get from a four cylinder bike.

I had the pleasure of logging about 4500 miles on a S3T this past summer. It has changed the way I look at riding. I've spent the last 16 years riding Harleys, had lots of fun, looked cool and all that. This past summer I put more miles on Buells than I did my other three bikes combined. Now before you think I didn't ride that much I also put about 4000 miles on M2s and X1s. You see I am a lucky guy that sells Harleys and Buells. The Buells are much more fun to ride than any other bike I've ever had. The power, handling and style of riding are different than I'm used to and I have to admit lots more fun! The S3T is only 5-10% less comfortable than my Electra Glide but it wheelies 150% better. If you're looking for a perfect blend of comfort and performance buy a S3T. Later Dave

It meets the needs of my 50-mile-a-day commute. And, it shreads the back roads on the weekends. It is almost like it can change character whenever the mood hits - part cruiser, long distance tourer, sport bike...you name it. Let's face it, if you can buy one bike that is just as capable as an all day tourer or mad man wheelie machine...you've got yourself a winner. And for heavens sake...it doesn't leak unless you put too much in - sheesh!!!

I'm a motorcycle junkie. I love almost all bikes but the Buell M2 does it for me. The guys that say it's a HD and leaks oil like a banshee don't own one period. I have 15000 miles on mine and it has never leaked a drop. I was at a local gas station the other day and 2 young guys were checking the bike out, not knowing I was the owner. The one guy said it was an awesome looking bike but not that fast. The other guy said " I'm sure you can make it fast". I felt like flipping them the key and telling them to go for it. Sure, it's not a Hyabusa but from 0 to 100mph it has so much torque that the pure riding experience will make you sold on the Buell. The bike tops out at about 125mph but, it's strong all the way up. My contention is "where do you do most of your riding at?" from 0 to 100 mph or 100 to 150mph? If it's the later buy a Hyabusa. If you want pure ass in the seat torque up to 120mph buy a Buell. I would also suggest you slap a Vance and Hines exhaust and a Mikuni Carb on it but, save a little money for a back tire because your going to need it.

poor reliability, poor customer service, I purchased this Buell in April of this year. It has been at the dealer for more than seven weeks for repair. I have had problems with the rear tire (lost air but wasn't punctured), clutch, alternator, rear suspension (recall item), and now the front brake. The folks at Harley customer service have not returned my calls or letter in two weeks. This bike handles great and is great to look at. Unfortunately, despite my dealer's best efforts, it's impossible to keep it running!
