1999 Yamaha V Star 1100

I just bought my third bike, the '99 VStar Custom, and it is the most comfortable, nicest looking and best sounding bike I've owned. It has slasher pipes, sissy bar, windshield, bags, floorboard pegs and heel toe shifter, and with 200+ pounds riding on it, there was power to spare. I've never...

I've never owned a vtwin before, and I was impressed about how much power it has. I've had a 4 cylinder 1100, and it didn't compare to the VStar. I'd just like to know does anyone have a figure on it's mpg? Thanks! The Gunny Jacksonville, NC

This bike is so sweet I'm 15 and am 5'7 this bike is just pure bliss on wheels. With a roll of the throttle you're up in the air but be careful because I've come mighty close to going flat on my back. This bike is so much better than any 2 stroke because it doesn't make you work so hard for speed and acceleration. Some might worry about the weight of this bike or the height but really if I can ride it then there should be any problem for someone my height or above. I only weigh 140 but I can still muscle the bike around just fine. The YZ puts out 45 hp at up to 12,000 rpms at a top speed of around 130 mph!!! Some people might complain about how they can't start it's really simple after you learn the routine. If anyone can get a good deal on this bike DO NOT hesitate to buy it, this bike rox!

Bought this model used this spring and have been very pleased with my purchase. It cruises well at legal highway speeds with some vibration in the foot boards and seat at higher speeds. Great mileage and very comfortable even with stock seat. Very heavy feeling and a little cumbersome in parking lots. Bike wants to fall into turns at very slow speeds. Not a real canyon carver at highway speeds but very managable when cruising. Which this bike does very well.

' just got my Vmax last week (1998 w/ 6k mi.-"used little"). Had/have a 1977 Honda 750 supersport which I loved but my wife wanted more back seat comfort. So far we like the max (It came with the sm. windscreen, forward foot pegs/engine guards, and the sissy bar). The only concerns I have at this point are; 1)The front seat/operators position forces all my weight onto the tail/pelvic-bone area -causing soreness after about 20 miles. 2)The handle bar grips could be about 2" more forward (my left wrist gets sore where it is (I am 58 yrs. and ~5'9"/ 162#). 3)Foot pegs/controls could be a couple of inches lower and/or forward.(seat ht. is 30" vs the 32" I'm used to.). Excepting for the seat discomfort -it's a "Keeper" for sure. p.s. That huge engine produces a lot of heat on a hot day and I see the temp. needle climb onto the lower red limit when we're sitting for a minute!-better get it moving.

The best thing about this bike is the nice ride it gives at an impressively affordable price. Its large enough for most men and women to cut through the wind on an interstate. The seat is at a perfect height for me @ (5'8") in fact thats one of the things that caught my attention in addition to the great looks, when I had mounted it the first time, it felt wonderful, like a nice pair of comfortable glove. The horse power as you throtel through straightaways and on corner bends are quite sufficient for a 650CC. It does have room for improvements but minor, in areas of re-distributing the weight to the rear more. But other than that. Hey, I love it. Its just "right" for me.

I bought this bike brand new and love it. Lots of power... Put a Cobra jet kit and slashcut pipes on and it even sounds good now... Not many of these were made so they may be worth something...
