I just traded my 2006 CRL25 for this bike and it's amazing! Power is great in low end and great on top. It's kind of hard to kick over though if you're short like me. For those of you reading this as of November 2009, respect that I am talking to people interested in buying a less expensive alternative to new bikes, and ya, I know I'm talking about a 10 year old motorcycle now. The 1998 - 2002 KTM 300 EXC is a race bike. For those considering it, be prepared to ride it, or have it ride you. That said, for the price out there it is a fantastic bike for low-budget - high performance machine. I am a retired expert rider - now 48 - and still getting my thrills on this bike. It is very fast, light, agile, and will keep up with any new bike on the market. It suffers from some stability issues at speed, and suspesion not quite as up to date, but realistically, this bike has incredible performace and gives up little to bikes half its age. I would recommend this bike to advanced+ riders looking for woods / trails riding. It is flickable in handling, has great bottom end, and awesome brakes. It's a two stroke, so that means it requires maintenance - but it's contrstruction makes it extremely easy to work on. Great bike.

I have owned the KTM 200 E/XC for a year and the performance is fantastic. Dispite the claims of it fouling plugs, I have no problem and I ride it very often at an idle in 1st and 2nd gear. I live in the northest and ride single track most of the time and it performes very well through the tight stuff and reall comes alive on the straights and with climbs. This bike will pull the front end up in an instant in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, so may not be for the young beginner. Although, I am a first time rider at 25+ years of age and it is working very well for me. I will admit that it does scare me a bit at times; riding through the tight stuff, come to an open stretch, hitting the throttle a 1/4 turn and the front end immediately comes up. But, this is easily adapted to and invaluable when needing to go over big root, logs, whoops and mud pits. On the down side, it does suffer constant minor problems like bolts rattling off accessories like the kick stand, odometer and air filter. All KTM rider willl tell you that this is a very common thing. It seems to be th running joke between the numerous riders in the area.

I think that the KTM 380 MXC was the best bike I have ever ridden. It has good power to push my large body around. I bought it used about 6 months ago. The only problems I have had are the brakes are just old and I had to rebuild them. The other problem was with my wrist (too much gas). I ride in Hungery Vally in Gorman, CA it is the right bike for the right place it has great suspension. I have had no problem with speed wobbles at high speed. I prefer the MXC over all the other models because it is like a middle ratio bike. It has the right gearing, it is not too wide and not too small and it has a good 85 mph top speed. Overall it is my favorite bike I have had out of a KX 80, KX 125, XR 250, and the KTM. I can't say enough good things about it, so if you ever have a chance, ride one and you will see what I mean. It is a nicely built bike.

The only problem i had was in the tight woods we have here in NY. The power was over kill and it allows speeds in the woods that i really shouldnt go. After 2 years with this bike i have had no problems at all.Changed the tires ,chain, sprokets and regular maintainance like the piston and rings etc.Parts availabilty is exellent and the prices are reasonable. Overall the best open class 2-stroke you could buy

This bike is so trick, it's amazing that more people don't own KTM's. It has a buttery smooth powerband, and superb handling. Out of the box it's handling is not quite to par but once the settings are dialed, watch the hell out! The only compliant I have is the lack of local dealers. All in all it... read more
