The 1100 aero is Honda's best example of a finished cruiser. I say finished because all of the details are "finished" polished, satin aluminum, etc. The headlight gauge cluster looks and performs better than a handlebar or tank mounted gauge cluster. I have kept up or passed nearly every imaginable cruiser, so the power is "Adequate". The floor boards are huge I have size 15 shoes and they fit nicely on the boards. The heel-toe shifter is long enough to stay out of the way until needed. The sound has a nice rumble, but is quiet in its stock form. The maintenance is negligible compared to some manufacturers. The bike is a head turner and I will keep it for a long time. If only Honda would make a VT1800C3 or a new 1800 Valk then we are talking!

I purchased the XR 400 with the 440 power up kit already installed. It has the packing removed from the muffler (which I am told by a Honda dealer can't be done, but I have proof it can) the air box lid has also been cut out to allow for better air flow, but it has the stock carburetor, I am unsure if the jets have been changed out, but I do know it has been dialed in for maximum performance. I am very impressed with the power of this bike, combined with the light weight and maneuverability. I am comparing it to the XR600, which has a much heavier feel, and although the XR 600 has more power, I have not been at a loss for power or speed. The XR 440 in my opinion does outperform the XR600 on everything but a flat out drag race. (One of my riding companions has an XR 600) I have read reviews that the stock XR400 suspension is not adequate and I disagree. I am not a small rider, and the suspension on this bike has performed very well for my style of riding, mountain trails, open desert, light jumping, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this bike, the only flaw I can find is hard starting when cold, which I am told is typical with XR's, but mine may also be due to the 440 kit.

The power this bike makes over 7000rpms is insane but is also a very easy bike to ride slow, but make no mistake about it this bike likes the open road. This is an amazing machine. PERIOD.

It is great at cornering, has great speed (I've been up to 140), and performs equally well in town, on windy roads, and on the interstate. Of course, it is not an off road bike. The acceleration is strong. Other bikers think it is a small, weak bike until I leave them far behind.

My 1997 Magna is hands down the best bike I've ever owned in 32 years of motorcycle riding. It looks good and sounds great with Cobra pipes. It has a nice sound that almost (but not quite) reminds me of a Sportster, but all I have to do is blip the throttle and the Sportster is in my rear view for keeps. My bike was rejetted for the pipes and I don't have the flat spot that I've heard others complain about. My only gripes are (1) the small tank, which requires refilling at somewhere between 85-110 miles depending on how spirited my riding is, and (2) the stock saddle, which is great for around town but really starts to hurt your derriere after about one hour of sustained riding. The riding position and handling are a great improvement over the VT500C Shadow I owned before the Magna. I disagree with the reviewers who say this bike needs a 6th gear. The close ratio 5 speed is fine for me although I wish top gear was just a little smaller to keep the engine revs down.

TODAY'S CRUISERS JUST don't MATCH THIS BIKE'S LOOKS, THE DEEP WIDE FENDERS WITH THE CHROME MOLDING ARE CLASSIC RETRO LOOKING, AND THEN ADDING THE BIG FAT WHITE WALLS JUST PUT ANOTHER NOTCH OF THAT CLASSIC LOOK TO THE OVERALL FIT AND FINISH. THE EXHAUST IS TOO QUIET FOR ME, BUT IT DOES HAVE A NICE LOOK TO IT. THE TWO INTO ONE THEME REALLY WORKS ON THIS BIKE. AT EIGHT FEET LONG IT WAS THE LONGEST PRODUCTION CRUISER HONDA MANFACTURED, THERE ARE SO MANY GOODIES OUT THERE TO ADD IT ALL COMES DOWN TO PERSONAL PREFENCE. THE SINGLE PIN CRANK MOTOR SHAKES A LITTLE BUT IT'S NOT AS BAD AS SOME OTHERS HAVE SAID, IT HAS PRETTY GOOD POWER. IT CAN BE IMPROVED BUT you're NOT BUYING A SPEED BIKE HERE, IF YOU WANT SOMETHING FASTER THEN you're GEARING MORE TO A SPORT BIKE. IT'S REALLY A SHAME THEY STOPPED PRODUCTION OF THIS MODEL (750 AERO IS NO COMP) IF YOU CAN FIND A USED ONE OUT THERE SNATCH IT UP, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. AND TO SUM IT UP, YOU CANT BEAT THE SHAFT DRIVE AND HONDA'S RELIABILITY!

The windshield is effective, but still allows for some air to keep you cool on the hotter days. I also have a Corbin seat which makes a difference to me. The large fuel tank, 7 plus gallons, means you can almost go on forever. I have taken it to PA 2 or 3 times with no issues up or down the mountains. Next, I'm trying to make it to the Honda Hoot with her. Keep riding, all!
