Love this bike that was purchased in 2005. I hurt my back and I'm needing to part with it and sell it because I can't lift it anymore if I tip it over, even though it has a rollbar. Been well taken care of and the Harley dealers have done all the work. Cruise control is wonderful for trips. New tires that have 65 miles on them. Excellent motorcycle and a real looker! Show less

After years of riding Japanese sports-tourers, I felt like a change and bought a Sportster 1200. Very enjoyable, but instantly had me wishing I had held out for a Big Twin. After much research, I decided that a Softail Night Train was the way to go. I am not ashamed to admit that the looks of the thing had much to do with the choice. I also wanted the simplicity, sound and character 1340 EVO engine, and like to do my own maintenance. For three years now, I have owned a 1999 'bike, and I could not be happier. Like all relationships, everything is not perfect. The 'bike is pretty slow, the brakes are adequate and the HD suspension (progressive shocks and fork springs are on my Christmas list) is just about acceptable, BUT.... After 21 years, the 'bike is showing few signs of age, a testament to the impressive original build quality. The feel of this bike, the way it feeds back to you on any ride, and the easy beat of the low tech EVO engine is a triumph of simplicity over technology. The riding position reminds you that you are there for the pleasure of the experience, and along with those incredible looks, well, I cannot imagine changing the bike anytime soon. If you want a motorcycle with an almost "vintage", visceral appeal that has you glancing back over your shoulder each time you have to walk away from it, then this is the sort of thing you need in your life. Newer Harleys are faster, smoother and far more complex, but for this very satisfied owner, less is definitely more. Be safe out there. Show less

I HAVE HAD PEARL NOW AUG 2001. BOUGHT STOCK AND SOON HAD STAGE 2KIT STRAIGHT PIPES AND FWD CONTROLS. FWD CONTROLS MUST FOR MY HEIGHT. GREAT HANDLING AND VERY FAST THROUGH TURNS. ONLY PROBLEM IS I OUT GREW THE POWER. PAST 19 MONTHS IN SHOP BECAUSE OF EXPEDITION. (3WEEKS ACTUAL WORK) NO LEAKS AND ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS. HANDLES WELL IN RAIN (A+ IN WA.) NOT BAD WITH A PASSENGER FOR BIKE SIZE. EVEN POWER WITH SINGLE AND PASS. Show less

I bought this Harley on eBay 2 years ago. I am the 3rd owner. Harley bought my first bike back under the Lemon Law and treated me very good so this purchase had some apprehension attached. The bike has been a blast to ride and real easy to own and service. I replaced a ZX11 so still wanting some 'sport' qualities in a bike I can honestly say that Harley has done it right in their Super Glide Sport. As long as you respect the limits and capabilities, this bike will not let you down. Plenty of power, flickability, lean angles you wouldn't expect on a Harley, and consistent 44mpg combined. I have never had a leak, a seep, or broken down. Dependable, Faithful, Assertive, and Reliable. Best of all it sounds great. Show less

I had been wanting a Harley for about seven years and I was finally able to get one about a month ago. When I first saw a Fat Boy years ago, I knew this was the bike for me. The solid chrome rims, the cruiser body style, the fat tires; this bike just demands attention. This is my first bike so it was a handful to ride at first but once I got used to the size and weight, I have enjoyed every minute of it. The Fat Boy rides well, handles nicely and definitely turns heads!! Show less

Awesome bike-best deal for a big twin! No problems of any kind. I have taken 4 trips to Sturgis and 1 to the Milwaukee 100th. Got 45-50mpg (British gallon=4.54 liters). Show less

I have one of the early TC88 models that have had some engine trouble. Mine has held together well and has been 100% reliable. It is completely stock except for Screaming Eagle slip-ons. Last summer I had the rear cam and cam bearing replaced because I keep reading about the cam bearing failure. They said mine was fine but I replaced it anyways. I ride mine hard but I keep the revs down. There is no need to hit the rev limiter on a stock bike because it's power band levels off before you get there. Keep it stock and service it regularly. This is a classic. So far I have had no problems, whatsoever. I bought it w/about 14.5k miles. Strong bike. Only downside I can think of is cornering -it'll drag the foot pegs, but its designed for the road. It's a pretty fast bike. I'm extremely happy with it. Great buy for the money. Show less

I've had this bike for 3 years now. Yes it had oil leaks inthe head gaskets at 4,500 miles and at 9,250 miles. But from what I have read this is inherent to this engine design. Maybe I didn't let it warm up enough. Yes it is tiring on the highway, and it is not very comfortable for your passenger. Bottem line, its a Harley, with the Cycle Shack slip-on mufflers it sounds like a big twin. Its a beautiful bike to look at and I enjoy working on it, I know every nook and cranny. Its not perfect but its mine. Its everything I expected from a Harley. I wouldn't have been happy with anything else, and ina perfect world I would own one of everything! Show less
