I got my DR250 on Ebay. Somehow the bike feels and handles like a full size bike with the standard 18 rear and a 21 front. The rear suspension is on the soft side for me but that's okay if your not charging too hard on those trails. For street use it's like riding on clouds. Reliability is great when I rode in a full downpour and muddy situation at that. But overall this bike makes you feel great. Fuel economy is great and like it could last forever.

It's easy to handle, very forgiving, lots of power if you need it, and very beautiful. It has 30,000 miles on it and runs like clock-work. After a lot of riding however, you do start to feel like you would like a bigger bike.

I have had this bike for a little over 1/2 a year now. I bought it in Iowa and drove it all the way to Albuquerque in 2 days (long story). The trip was a little over 1000 miles. After all that riding I didn't have any pain at all. It is so comfortable. I've had it to about 150mph on the speedometer. Handling is a little off, due to the small rear tire (150). If you get on it too hard leaving a turn with cold tires it WILL FISH TAIL, and the hook up into a wheelie. Wheelies are easy with a fast shift into 2nd or a little clutch. Motor is noisy, as with all Katanas of this generation. This bike will hang with my friends GSXR600 (1998). Great bike for large riders. Has tons of torque, not peaky.

I own a 1994 DR250SE. I have had it for eight months and have put almost 2000 miles on it. It is the perfect bike for me. It goes strong on and off the road. I bought it from my friend who was forced to sell it after being pulled over by a cop with no license and not to mention doing 90 mph. I live near a creek with jumps and whoop de doos and it handles them perfect. Even with balding dual purpose tires it still goes great in deep sand and while I cross the creek,(I don't know how they got bald!). I ride it to school every day. I'm the only kid who rides a motorcycle to school. I don't know how fast I've ever gone on it because when I'm racing my friend I never seem to look at my speedometer. My friend has a Honda 250 which has been bored out to a 300. We race all the time and I've never been beat. All he can say is "Damn! I was doing 80 or more and you just kept pulling away from me!" As you can tell it has too much power for my hands. I don't think I'm ever going to sell this bike. In fact if they didn't stop making the d/p 250'S out here I would've bought another.

I've had no problems with it since and I ride it everyday except for when it rains. It's very reliable and easily controllable on the trails. My only complaint with it is that it's not very fast but I guess its o.k. for only being a 125.

o doubt this is a very cool, aerodynamic bike. Even the first design was 12 year ago from now (1989), the look is pretty much updated and doesn't look old at all. With a bit of modification, you can get yourself a very unique bike without trading in your car. Performance is good, at least I don't think most of the people can use up it's full power (max output at 6000-8000 RPM). It's good enough for day in day out occasionally aggressive driving. And you won't lose a street with the big boys. Down side is this bike is kinda rough riding. Idling is rough and the ride is not as smooth (may be it's old). But definitely a good bike to have and still more fun to drive than most of the bike. Since I have this bike, my one year old cruiser is sitting in the garage crying for attention.

It is a perfect bike for the novice as well as the more experienced rider. Plenty of pick up and roll on speed. The choke must be fully extended in order for proper operation, especially in colder weather. Easy to handle.

The hydraulics get a little mushy in 30-40 degree weather. Stock shocks need to go, particularly if riding two-up. Great for short trips around town. However, all in all, biggest bang for your riding buck!!! No other V-Twin in same class can touch it in take-off and roll on power.
