I've never been a crotch rocket, cafe racer, sport bike kind of dude. To me the Spectre was ugly. Worse, mine was purple. Never got used to hugging the tank (necessary for survival), it just wasn't my style. But what it lacked in aesthetics it more than made up for in performance. I had never, nor will ever again, reach speeds even close to those I achieved on this machine. I'm talking scary fast. You know the feeling. When the adrenaline has your heart pumping and body trembling long after you've dismounted. I can close my eyes and feel it still today, 40 years later. I'm strictly a cruiser dude now, I'll leave the death defying to those still young enough to consider crazy cool. Like I did. Show less

I've had this bike for a while now. I race it almost every night. It's got a lot of power. It's a nice ride over 140. I'd take this bike over newer bikes any day. It's great on gas, fun and fast and smooth shifting. It's been a dream the whole time I've owned it. I've only had to change the oil. If I could find more of the J2 ZX-7, I would buy them just to keep to myself. Show less

OK, so it's over 10 years old now, but I'm going to write a review anyway :-) About a year ago I bought a mint Ninja from a good friend of mine when he upgraded to a newer ZX-7. He was the original owner and kept this baby in creampuff condition. The performance and handling for this older sport bike still holds up well to today's standards. It's quite zippy and handles very nicely. The riding position is forward, but comfortably leans you into the wind (not as radical and wrist-torturing as the racer-replica crowd). The stubby windshield provides a surprising amount of protection, breaking up the wind and sending it over the helmet smoothly. Freeway riding is silky. I have a couple of minor complaints, and it's really about Japanese sport bikes in general. They are -too- quiet and just don't make much power (torque) in the low ranges, you really have to wind them up to make things happen. But once "on step" performance is impressive. Obviously the "quiet" issue can be solved with an aftermarket pipe, so as I said these are minor complaints about an otherwise wonderful motorcycle! Show less

I can honestly say the Ninja ZX600D is the best bike I've ridden. I put 5,000 klms on my ZX6 is the first 6 weeks. One day consisted of 600 klms. The bike looks great and handles vantastic. I researched all the bikes in its class and ZX6D or E came up # 1 for handling and comfort. Lots of power. Add some luggage bags and your ready for a major tour. Show less

Got my Zephyr yesterday (1993 ZR750 C3 model, can't find how to add a new bike model so writing review here). Had tested it unrestricted (76 bhp), now driving it restricted due to law here, performance is still excellent up to about 80-85 mph, then can't go any faster due to restricted engine. Will give an update on reliability later. Show less

I just sold my 92 Connie a couple months ago. It was a very dependable bike, and fairly comfy on 500 plus mile trips. It's definately the best bike for the buck, but not the best sport tourer out there. The connie is just too dated and has no updated technology. If your just getting into sport touring this would be a great bike to start on, me I'm looking for something a little more adventurous, I'm getting the 2001 Triumph Tiger! Show less

I have owned this bike since it was new and continue to be more than happy with its performance. Riding position is a little harsh after 4 or 5 hours in the saddle, but that's the trade off with most race replicas. Engine and transmission performance is solid with "0" mechanical gremlins. Minor chassis adjustments from stock settings have paid off in improved turning and left/right/left transition and it has great brakes for an "older" bike. I've remained with the stock tire brand since new although I have opted for a slightly harder compound on the rear for increased mileage. If you're a Kawasaki freak like me you will no doubt enjoy the racing color paint scheme. Although I have been tempted to purchase something newer, this bike has more than enough performance for the type of riding I enjoy along the pacific coast range and all over the Santa Cruz mountains. I have the joy of owning this bike. Let me tell you this bike is a totally neutral ride. It absolutely doesn't shake and after I adjusted the ride height it turns in like a razor blade. The ergos are a little racey, but obviously if your interested in a race replica you pay the price. Overall this bike in my opinion is a lot of bike at reasonable prices. They are capable of way more than the average Joe. Show less

Bought a solid burgundy color model new in '92 - 30,000 miles later she's still gorgeous. I've fed mine a steady diet of commuting, touring and sport rides along with good oil, quality tires, a competent mechanic and it's been great since day one. She's been smooth, reliable, gets almost 50 mpg and the bike fits me (at 6'1" and 160 lbs.) pretty good. I've done 1,000 mile rides with soft luggage, no problem. It provides fairly good wind/weather protection for a 600-class bike. Handling is very neutral and it turns with a soft touch and holds your cornering line well. I've had no major mechanical gremlins, just tires, oil and a chain/sprocket set, plus regular service to keep it sweet. Definitely an overlooked bike due to the F2/F3 craze. I'd have no qualms about buying one again. My only major mods were fresh fork springs (Progressive) and a new Koni rear shock at 28,000 miles. I also had the shop drill out the low-speed limiters and richen up the bottom end a little for smoother revs below 4,500. I really like this bike! Show less

I bought the Vulcan new in '92, and have put 20k on it. I added a windshield, leather bags, case guard, Cobra pipes, tank bib, and rear rack, and ride it for everything. It's a great all around bike, hiway, 2 lane roads, or twisties. Only problem in 8 years was a loose kickstand switch, otherwise, the bike has been bulletproof. I decided on the Vulcan because of mags (hate cleaning spokes!), shaft drive (ditto chain dirt), water cooled, and hydraulic valves. Seems like the right decision for me, it's been a good ride, not to mention a great look. Show less
